I see a post showing the a run down of the mini adventures in the books.  I'm going to add the link to the first post although if you want to fix it up.

Very good, thanks.

Thoughts on adding additional backgrounds from the Saga Edition Wiki?  If nothing else, the Jedi Training Clan backgrounds (the Jedi Skill pool is so shallow and this really helps open it up in a way that totally makes sense)?  I know we've got a SagaEdition.com tab that we can check or uncheck.

https://swse.fandom.com/wiki/Untested_Backgrounds

It would be nice to get the basic sheet up and running first. You can always grant class skills and any other house rules you want by using the Bonus tab. There is a House Rules tab but I'm not sure what it does. Is sagaedition.com still a thing? Anyway, I would do the house rules integration after the sheet is working, assuming your brother wants to do all that work.

Maybe you can email Old_Benn for help. He has an email icon under his name.

While we're waiting, Custom Starship Sheet 1.09; is there any way to modify it so that certain options can be chosen more than once (besides hanger bay and weapons)?  Like Medical Bay or Passenger Seating/Quarters?

I haven't used that sheet in years so I can't really help. Is has its own thread here but I don't know if that helps much:

I take it back, we've been using:
SagaSheet 1.4 (Ilmion fixed 0.5)

Ok. There are many bugs others have fixed since then; there have been at least 10 revisions. Do you think your brother could combine his bug fixes with the bug fixes of the latest Sagasheet (ver. 1.5.0)? That would truly awesome.

I can ask him!
Great, thanks!

"There's some stuff I fixed so long ago, I don't remember what they were.
I'm pretty sure I did change the Jedi Consular talents that allows Force Persuasion without having to have Adept Negotiator, so people might not want that because it's not RAW.
I fixed some errors with how the VBA code doesn't work with the newer versions of Excel (I think it was mostly affecting weapons).
I fixed some stuff with the Droid sheet, I think specifically the vision package adding to Perception whether or not you're a droid.
I fixed some stuff with the Beast sheet, I think specifically the natural weapons.
I fixed the Jedi Light Armor being set to medium.
I fixed an error on the Equipment sheet where the "Cost of Equipment" cell did not correctly include all the Equipment costs."

Interesting. Do you know if he worked off of the latest version? There is a whole bunch of bugs that many people worked to fix over the years. Download the Sagasheet from my sig and check the "Known Issues" tab for the version history and list of bugs fixed.

My brother has updated the sagasheet a couple of times.  I'll look into trying to get it where others can get it.

What did he update?

I put out a compilation on Reddit awhile ago. I don't know if it should be added to the first post, or if I should just make a separate topic for it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SagaEdition/comments/qxs8wq/ultimate_compilation_of_saga_edition_resources/

I can add a link to the first post.

I have links to all the Dawn of Defiance enhancement threads at the old WOTC site:

Episode 1:  The Traitor's Gambit
Episode 2:  A Wretched Hive
Episode 3:  The Queen of Air and Darkness
Episode 4:  Echoes of the Jedi
Episode 5:  The First to Strike
Episode 6:  The Core of Corruption
Episode 7:  A Reckoning of Wraiths
Episode 8:  The Gem of Alderaan
Episode 9:  The Sword of the Empire
Episode 10:  Jaws of the Sarlacc

Does any have these in a PDF or doc? Or am I going to be using the Wayback Machine?

Check in my files "Dawn of Defiance and other adventures." The pdfs should all be there.

The Senate / Re: Force Grip is not a dark side power... why?
« on: October 05, 2021, 12:34:58 pm »
This has always been the thing I've been most puzzled about in SAGA. Why is Force Grip (more commonly known as Force CHOKE...) not a dark side power? One could argue it's the poster boy for a dark side power in the original trilogy. The Emperor uses Force Lightning once, but Darth Vader keeps choking people left and right. Sure, it's dark sidey to use the Force in a violent manner, to harm "innocent" officers, but I would think that the power itself is drenched in the dark side. So, even if you used it in self-defense, I would absolutely deal you a dark side point right away.

So this power is a rarity for me: it's something that I houserule in SAGA. Generally, SAGA is so well designed that I very rarely houserule anything. There's nothing mechanically wrong in Force Grip, but I seem to have a different philosophy here.

In the films, next there's the matter of Luke entering Jabba's palace and seemingly Force choking the gamorrean guards. Is that the reason it's not a dark side power? I always thought that Luke IS actually using a dark side power here, to help the audience understand that he's not THAT different from his father, that he does have all the same potential for darkness (even if he will choose another path in the end). So yeah, a dark side point to Luke from me!

A final matter to consider is the nature of the power itself. What does it do, really? It's written in SAGA as a purely telekinetic thing, and even has the telekinetic label in the errata. Ok, you are just exerting some pressure on someone's body, bit like Force Slam? I guess it's possible to think of it that way... but it always seemed to me to be something more. A power to choke the LIFE out of someone, even if used just in moderation and non-lethally. The dark side of the Force sucking not just the air out of your lungs, but the life out of your body!

So, what do you think? A clever telekinetic battle trick, or summoning forth the power of darkness itself? :)

I have no problem with a GM house-ruling that Force Grip is a dark side force power. I agree with pretty much everything you mentioned. In the previous version of Saga Edition which was called the Revised Core Rulebook, Force Grip was a dark side force power. Using it earned you an automatic Darkside Point.

What makes a Force power "Dark" often seems to simply be a matter of, "Did the bad guy use this? If yes, then it's darkside." If we apply that to Force Grip, then it should definitely be a dark side power.

Interesting list. You obviously put a lot of work into this. If I was GM, I would not allow my starting players to have access to anything that was rated gold or sky blue (except for common things like mesh tape or a bandolier) unless they had a really good reason.

What type of "update" are you talking about?  My question is what error are in it because there really isn't anything to update.

Formatting stuff, rearranging some columns, adding in a playable droid model column, consolidation of error fixes. Update in the sense of a consolidation of major things I'd been meaning to do for a while.

I'm not working on this anymore, so feel free to post an updated version. If you could tell us what has been "rearranged" that would be great.

This is great stuff! I'm going to include a link to Sagaforge in the stickied topic My Compiled files of all Saga Edition RPG resource documents & reference tools if you don't mind.

Also, I noticed that I was not able to select the Indomitable talent when I quickly made a Soldier character just now. The drop-down box to select it didn't show up.

I have uploaded a new version of Sagasheet 1.5.0 to fix a Visual Basic error message that shows up when accessing the Statblock tab. Download from the first post of this thread or from my sig.

Okay, so I sent the file to a programmer friend and he seems to have fixed the problem. Please try it now, the updated file is in my sig, version 1.5.0.

.....

Nice to see that you're still around.

Not to hijack the topic or anything.
Thanks. All my RPGs have died, so I kind of dropped off the map here.
