Question.
Do con games of saga still get large demand for slots?
Donald I think you are asking if SAGA Edition of Star Wars is still getting played often at conventions. I can't speak for anywhere but the St. Louis MO area and the Peoria Illinois area. No. I ran a couple of time slots of SAGA. When people showed up half of them thought it was the new FFG version, even though for game system in the listings it said "WoTC Star Wars SAGA Ed." Most everyone stayed and played. Thankfully I had my pound-o-dice as most did not bring dice as none wanted to buy the FFG dice needed for the game. But loved playing the game, still scratching my head on that one. I would say half never heard of or played SAGA Edition either but ended up liking it, but would rather play the newest thing on the market.
You could run it in your area's conventions and see how many show up. I would recommend you have dozens of pre-made character sheets, dice, pencils, scrap paper, and possibly something to represent PC's/NPC's and a game mat. Plus be prepared to deal with lots of new to SAGA players. Bonus for you is most TTRPG'ers have played d20 in some form so should not be to big a learning curve. Just any new person playing a Jedi will take some work to get them use to it.
At the conventions I go to in the aforementioned places, FFG only has a couple of games of it run. And the old d6 version one guy I know and have discussed the finer points between d6 and SAGA extensively still runs 4 or 5 d6 games over a convention weekend and get 6 to 7 players per time slot.
