That is pretty cool encounter YIDM. I like it for an end of the campaign encounter to let heroes die as heroes and some live on but as legends and ruined shells of themselves.

Did Fandom comics ever do one? They did lots of 50 ish plus page PDF's that look like the official books and were well done. So well done that WoTC stole some of their ideas and FFG eventually hired them to work on the new Star Wars RPG. I know I have them downloaded from their site but it is in a massive TTRPG file that last I checked was 15 gigs and last organized a couple of years ago. I download and save anything and everything for TTRPG's and barely have time to play them. The dang RPGNow and DrivethruRPG sites get me for money once a month. I love some of the stuff that people like us have made and put up for sale or donation over there.

I have them all compiled in a small pdf but no time to figure out to post them again. I know I did a quick google search and found a few of them in the first entries.

but I wonder if that is Tsubasakuro's real questions.

I believe WEG had a "guide to Bounty Hunters" for the d6 version of the game.  I know there was "Wanted by Cracken" which presented a number of possible bounty targets for the WEG version put up by the New Republic.  It is possible to convert the WEG mechanics to a degree but much of the fluff can easily be ported into any version of the SWRPG.

The Bounty Postings PDFS are for SAGA with SAGA stat blocks, History, Psych Profiles and adventure seeds. Everything a GM (or most) would need to spark the imagination to set the gears spinning to run a Bounty Hunting adventure. But yes the d6 guide had some great stuff in it too.

Question.
Do con games of saga still get large demand for slots?

Donald I think you are asking if SAGA Edition of Star Wars is still getting played often at conventions. I can't speak for anywhere but the St. Louis MO area and the Peoria Illinois area. No. I ran a couple of time slots of SAGA. When people showed up half of them thought it was the new FFG version, even though for game system in the listings it said "WoTC Star Wars SAGA Ed." Most everyone stayed and played. Thankfully I had my pound-o-dice as most did not bring dice as none wanted to buy the FFG dice needed for the game. But loved playing the game, still scratching my head on that one. I would say half never heard of or played SAGA Edition either but ended up liking it, but would rather play the newest thing on the market.

You could run it in your area's conventions and see how many show up. I would recommend you have dozens of pre-made character sheets, dice, pencils, scrap paper, and possibly something to represent PC's/NPC's and a game mat. Plus be prepared to deal with lots of new to SAGA players. Bonus for you is most TTRPG'ers have played d20 in some form so should not be to big a learning curve. Just any new person playing a Jedi will take some work to get them use to it.

At the conventions I go to in the aforementioned places, FFG only has a couple of games of it run. And the old d6 version one guy I know and have discussed the finer points between d6 and SAGA extensively still runs 4 or 5 d6 games over a convention weekend and get 6 to 7 players per time slot.

Scum and Villainy, page 87-88 lists credit Rewards for bounties. That's what I would use.

Essentially, it's 1,000 credits x CL for a solo mission bounty; or 2,000 credits x avg. party level for a group adventure (with backup). Named NPCs and influential characters do not follow these rules, and are determined by the GM.

That was it, thank you YIDM for the book and page number. Working so much I don't have time to do much of anything anymore. Also Tsubasakuro look up Bounty Postings Saga in google. There was a webseries/articles with bounties with back stories like I talked about in the post above. Hope that helps.

There was a pdf made of bounties with back stories for the wanted NPC. You could look over what they did and come up with a formula probably to mimick it. And for some reason I remember a book having a way to figure bounties in it, but it has been so long it could have been an older Star Wars RPG or a player/fan made pdf. Let me try and find the pdf after work and will try and link it for you, Tsubasakuro.

I like them. Thank you for sharing them. If I ever get time and my game room set up I might commision a GM mug from you.

In game you could just imagine little old Yoda walking up to some big, heavy object and then after getting a hold of it see him pick it up and throw it across the room.  HOW DID HE DO IT?  It isn't that Yoda has an amazing STR score, and his size wouldn't help even if he did, and he also isn't a cyborg (that we know of) so it must be some application of the Force that was used to make it look like he was one strong little green dude.

I will normally agree with fluffing this like you are saying Steven.

But Steve (in game) we are getting into trying to camoflauge Force usage. And for me that would require him making a Standard Action/Deception or Stealth check (forgive me been away from books and game for a bit during move and do not remember which one fits perfectly) to pass off Yoda looking to have picked up and thrown the big/heavy object physically not by magixs. I am all for allowing an extra bonus or extra/reactionary skill check to hide Force usage/manipilation. I do believe there was a post here or the older Saga d20 forums about doing this, but then we are outside the box far as RAW and probably even RAI and into a houserule. But even the wiki says his equipment is the source of his strength cited from a few novels to a reconstuction guide to his armor all heavily watched over by Mr. Lucas as all things Star Wars hwas always been. And yes the novels and stories are legends or whatever but I would bet money any new material for Vader will draw heavily upon the past stuff and this will be the same for the most part.

I was re-reading the FAQ to see if there was anything I had missed, or didn't know of, for running my SAGA games, and I came across a few things I thought "odd" or not consistent with what it should be:

1) FAQ: says that Dark Healing talent can be Deflected. wtf? (when has this EVER happened in the stories?)

2) FAQ: says that Destiny Points cannot be Blocked, Deflected, and I presume Vehicular Combat avoided, but yet a natural 20 can be Block/Deflect/Vehicular Combat turned to a "miss". (that seems inconsistent, and encourages meta-game thinking for PCs to DP the BBEG down with everyone spending their Burst Fire, battle strike, Power Attack and DP = win)

3) FAQ: Permanent DR of the same type doesn't stack, which isn't the case for generic d20 games. (i.e. a barbarian DR stacks with adamantine DR in generic d20; so why doesn't elite trooper DR stack with durasteel cast armor template?)

4) Rodney's Answers: Tech Specialist device upgrade to strength doesn't increase a cybernetic prosthesis arm? Has anyone seen Vader? He's WAY stronger than he was as Anakin flesh and blood.

Thoughts?
Just my two cents...

YIDM

1. I agree with sienn about the baloney part.

2. I refuse to use Destiny points, for that reason and others.

3. +1 to seinn again. He is right it would cause invincibility issues.

4. I know I have something on this from the wiki. Found it. These are quotes from the wookieepedia page on Vader's armor. Hope they help.

Quote
On his hands he wore black gloves,[5] the right glove being a Mandalorian crushgaunt fitted around one of Lord Kaan's indestructible Sith amulets, and modified to include grip-augmentation circuitry.[16][10] The gloves, or more accurately gauntlets, were also made of a Micronized Mandalorian iron weave to protect Vader against glancing lightsaber blows during the patient's physical therapy sparring sessions, as well as deflecting a direct hit from a blaster bolt.

Quote
His mechanical appendages provided him with more strength than that of an ordinary man; he could adjust the servodrivers and pistons in his forearms to provide his hands with enough strength to crush nearly anything they could grasp. With the power of his arms alone, he had the ability to lift an adult being off the ground, though he had always been able to do so with the Force, especially in moments of rage.[24]

Sparx still love that build. Have it saved with a few minor changes and will use it someday if I get time.

« on: August 18, 2015, 08:23:38 pm »
hey mudtop here are a few older topics gthat might be a good read for you and help. They are of the Epic rules being applied to SAGA. I agree with SteveO that things should not get harder all the time because the group got harder. Basically I think a modified version of Bonded Accuracy for SAGA. Then instead of increasing damage per CL or level to get a grittier feel, I would limit HP to a decent and fair amount by using a slightly modified version of Epic 6.

Bounded Accuracy

Epic rules for Saga

Wow SciFighter, that is a lot of cool stuff. Too much for me. I am slowly mapping a world out in ditzie, sorry I could not be more help. Great for online gaming if I ever get time. Plus I am thinking it could be useful for table top usage too. When I get time I want to look over those posts of yours to try and figure them out.

Star Wars Saga Edition General / Re: How would you run a zombie game?
« on: August 13, 2015, 03:01:27 pm »
I'm sure you know this but a few things in the books actually comes to mind in this situation.  One is the Rakghouls from KotOR which reproduce by affecting people with their attacks.  I also believe the JATM has a few parasitic creatures that take over a body which may be similar to how your ZA is working.

These above, plus I do remember someone a long while back posted a zombie stat bock they used in a game they ran, or my memory is really going. But I think they used the Condition track to show more decay and slower movement, and allow for easier one hit kills. I do remember really liking this person's ideals on zombies in SAGA and I know I stole the stat block but cannot find it now.

I moved in with someone and her son. My desktop ended up with a nasty virus somehow. Did manage to get all of my stuff off the computer onto a passport drive but cannot find that stat block. If I find it or the thread it was in I'll post it here for you CHIA.

The Senate / Re: Awarding Experience
« on: July 28, 2015, 07:09:44 pm »
As far as Skill Challenges. I really like how Rodrigo from the Critical Hit Podcast runs his for Dnd 4e. It works pretty good for getting the players through a particular section in the game that I could easily narrate but keeps the pc's involved.

I did a quick look for a podcast of his demonstrating this, but I cannot find it. I normally have more time to search more thoroughly. Could you post a link to a good example of this, please Dreadbone? I think this is what I basically do, but would like to hear him in action.

I was wondering how everyone else awards experience in Saga Edition.  Do you guys use what is provided in the books or something else?

Like FTJ I do not use experience, I do like someone else mentioned and allow everyone to level when it seems appropriate.

Also how do skill encounters work?

See above

As a houserule in the past I did allow players to trade in XP for other rewards,

Aeviv could you make post with some examples of rewards you let the PC's trade experience for?
