That makes a lot of sense to want Delay Damage as soon as possible. I think I was so focused on everything else that I was ignoring the forest for the trees. And yeah, sorry, I’m going with scienn_sconn’s take to use the War Sword for all of these Feats/Talents to fit the flavor of the background I wrote up.

Weapon Focus was not my first thought for that Feat slot, I had a convo with someone who pointed out that 1 point of Melee AB can help. Do you have any thoughts on a replacement that would work better?

And I’m sorry, I’m new so I’m still learning the acronym’s for a lot of these. Does AMW stand for Armored Mandalorian from the Mandalorian Warrior Tree? If so I was under the impression that that is only found in the ET tree.

In both this and the Reddit thread, even though I got some great advice, I didn't get the help I was looking for. So let me ask instead, which of these two builds would be more effective for playing through Dawn of Defiance? The first one’s order is more defensively spec’ed, while the second one is a little more offensively spec’ed. Again, any assistance would be appreciated.

Defensive
Lvl 1: Soldier 1; Extra Second Wind (Lvl Feat), Melee Smash
Lvl 2: Soldier 2; Martial Arts I (Soldier Feat)
Lvl 3: Soldier 3; Unstoppable Combatant (Lvl Feat), Unrelenting Assault
Lvl 4: Soldier 4; Grand Army of the Republic Training (Soldier Feat)
Lvl 5: Soldier 5; Armored Defense

Lvl 9: Noble 2; Unstoppable Force (Lvl Feat), Recovering Surge (Noble Feat)
Lvl 10: Noble 3; Luck Favors the Bold
Lvl 11: Soldier 8; Triple Attack (Soldier Feat)

I'm working on a build that's a continuation of a build (sienn_sconn from http://thesagacontinues.createaforum.com/the-arena/ultimate-dream-build-11-the-grand-melee/). I know the levels and the Feats/Talents that I'm wanting to run, I just cannot for the life of me figure out the best order to take the levels and feats/talents. We're running Dawn of Defiance, and our DM wants to run the entire thing so we're guaranteed to hit level 20. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if there's any other info that is pertinent I'm more than happy to give it. Thanks for the help!!

Soldier (9) / Scoundrel (1) / Elite Trooper (7) / Noble (3)

Feats: Weapon Focus (Simple), Martial Arts I, Recovering Surge, Unstoppable Force, Fast Surge, Grand Army of the Republic Training, Extra Second Wind, Unstoppable Combatant, Accelerated Strike, Double Attack, Triple Crit, Triple Attack, Point-Blank Shot* (Scoundrel Feat), Linguist* (Noble Feat)

Soldier Talents: Melee Smash (Brawler), Unrelenting Assault (Brawler), Armored Defense (Armored Specialist), Imp. Armored Defense (Armored Specialist), Juggernaut (Armored Specialist)
Scoundrel Talents: Stymie (Misfortune)
Elite Trooper Talents: Flurry Attack (Critical Master), Whirling Death (Melee Specialist), Extended Crit. Range (Critical Master), Mandalorian Glory (Mandalorian Warrior), Armored Mandalorian (Mandalorian Warrior)
Noble Talents: Face the Foe (Gambling Leader), Luck Favors the Bold (Gambling Leader)

Star Wars Saga Edition General / Re: Is This Player's Build Legal?
« on: June 28, 2020, 10:16:43 am »
My apologies, looking back I should’ve been a little more clear on a few points. I’ll try to respond to each of them. That said, thank you very much for taking a look here, it’s greatly appreciated!

There appears to be too many trained skills (if that's all that's listed) as 6 (Noble) +2 INT = 8 and I count 9.  Use of Backgrounds says *(&* CLASS SKILLS!!!
Ah, the DM misinterpreted that as being you added the bonus Skill directly to your list of known Skills. I’ll let him know that that’s wrong.

I see 9 Force Powers listed as well when Force Training x2 w/ WIS 16 should only give 8.
I screwed the pooch on this one. We’re playing through Dawn of Defiance, and last adventure he gave him Force Blast, presumably because the adventure told him to, but I won’t look through the book to confirm that.

Ability scores are godlike and ILLEGAL.  With optimum advance advancement starting scores are 10, 18, 14, 12, 16, 20!  That 20 is NOT POSSIBLE.  Even dropping that down to 18 still leaves a point buy equivalent of 54 when expected stats should be 25-28 points.
Oh yeah, the 20. I forgot about that completely. He told the DM that he found another source that claimed that Miralukan’s got a +2 to Cha instead of Int. Good to know that he was full of it since I couldn’t find anything else on it.
As to the rest of it, there’s only 3 of us playing, and I think our DM allowing the other player (his wife) to “roll” as well (her stats are worse than his), and because there’s only 3 of us and he’s not reducing any of the CR’s for the fights is the reason he’s allowing their crazy high stats. I’ve already pointed it out, but at this point more than anything I feel foolish having done the Point Buy myself lol.

Feats and Talents actually look possible.  THIS MAY BE THE ONLY LEGAL THING ON THE SHEET.
That’s where my math gets a little wonky. So from what I’m seeing, he’d get the following Feats:
Miralucan Racial: Force Training
Noble 1: Linguist, WP (Pistols), WP (Simple)
Level 1: Skill Focus (UtF)
Jedi 1: Force Sensitive
Jedi 2: WP (Lightsaber)
Level 3: Force Training
That would Weapon Focus (Lightsaber) as not being valid. Am I right on this or is there another Feat source that I’m missing here?

Attacking with both end of a double bladed lightsaber would incur -10 penalties on BOTH attacks.  This means his normal +4 attack with a lightsaber (+3 BAB +1 Focus) now becomes -6/-6.
I’m seeing on his Roll20 sheet (which I only have access to because the DM wanted me to look things over) that his Double-Bladed Lightsaber Attack is +7 as a base due to the Mod being Dex and not Str (which is where the -3/-3 comes from). He should only get that with Weapon Finesse correct? I don’t see that listed on his sheet at all.

Hitpoints are unusually high.  They're +8 what I'd normally use and some consider my uses of fixed hp/HD to be very generous.
Probably dumb of me to give the benefit of the doubt to him here, but just this once I think I’ll give it to him.

REF = 10 + 1 class + 4 level +3 DEX = 18/15 so that's too high. WILL is the same but w/ +2 class and WIS = 19.
Shouldn’t Ref be:
10 + Heroic Level (4) + Dex (3) + Class Bonus (1) = 18
Will makes sense, thanks!

DON'T use Backgrounds and Destiny...
Already tried that, but I’m just ice skating uphill. It’s the DMs call and he says it’s how he evens out there only being 3 of us (I guess along with the stats lol).

Again, thanks for all the help you’ve already given me, and for any other Qs I have that you may answer. I’m still very new to Saga and I’m trying to learn as fast as I can. So your (and everyone’s) help is a big…well, help!

Star Wars Saga Edition General / Is This Player's Build Legal?
« on: June 28, 2020, 01:29:04 am »
<<I apologize if this is in the wrong spot. If it is, mods if you could move it please and thank you!>>

My DM has concerns that one of our players to our game is using his lack of DMing and dislike of confrontation to add things that his character shouldn't have. He's an expert on D&D 3.5 and 5e so our DM is just letting him act as the expert. Thing is when I attempt to reverse engineer the character I can't account for all the Feats. One thing is that our DM wants us to use both Backgrounds AND Destiny's. So that helped me find the skills. So if anyone can tell me if I'm just missing things or if the player is gaming the DM, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

Star Wars Saga Edition General / Re: Stealth Ewok Build Assistance

@ StevenO
Lol yeah, but we started The Traitor’s Gambit the other day, and the first fight the way she was build at the time, she was completely useless. The second fight she was knocked out right off the bat. So again, I’m less concerned about the severely above average stats than I am finding a build that can help the group (only 3 of us playing).

I completely missed the Camouflage Poncho lol. And yeah, I see what you mean about the Feat, I’ll definitely add that back in.

Would you say that there’s a way to consistently cause someone to be Flat-Footed? If so would you recommend the Scout/Jedi/Vanguard or Infiltrator go for a sniper build, or would more of a CT build be more manageable? (Ty for all the help FYI!)

@ MERC_1
Well she rolled them with the DM (her husband), plus as I said earlier, she’s such a novice at these kinds of games, I don’t really care one way or the other. I really don’t think she has it in her to break the game even if she started with all 20’s.

From what I’ve been able to find, the Dynamic Hammer is from something called the Clone Wars Saga Edition Fan Sourcebook which seems to be a homebrew. It’s a Medium Simple Melee Weapon with a cost of 3,000cr (that I’m sure was waved for her), 2d8 Bludgeoning damage with a Weight of 6kg. I don’t personally use Homebrew stuff, but to each their own I guess.

That’s good to know, I totally forgot about her size vs the weapon size. I’ll have to relay that to her, thx!

Yep, that would be me. I had already posted 2 things on that board and I was a little worried that I'd overstay my welcome posting 3-4 topics in a week. Guess that backfired lol. So the DM and his gf (the player) listened to some suggestions I had, but did not go in the most...useful of directions with it. Here is what they have (apologies if the math on anything is wrong, I've gotta go run some errands and I'm putting this together on a clock). The build is below. She has expressed interest in moving on to Pathfinder for the Create Cover Class Feature. I'm just worried because she has never played a Stealth character (and neither have I so I'm very limited in my usefulness here) and the other players are not the kind to step up and offer her any assistance even though she's new.

Star Wars Saga Edition General / Stealth Ewok Build Assistance
« on: June 20, 2020, 01:56:59 pm »
Mods, apologies if this is in the wrong area, I'm very new here and to SWSE in general. I'm trying to help a friend build an Ewok character (she's very adamant about this) who is amazing at Stealth. I've had a few thoughts on this, and would welcome any and all assitance. I'm perfectly fine with powergaming as any OP'edness she gets will be overshadowed by her lack of tactics or general game knowledge.

So far all I really have is the Ewok+Forest Stalker+Improved Stealth combo, and am eyeing the Pathfinder Create Cover Class Feature. But I really don't have any way to abuse this for her (again, the cheesier the better, she's a novice to games in general) and that would be the ultimate goal so that she can have fun while still making mistakes.

Thank you all in advance for your help!
