Star Wars Saga Edition General / Re: SagaForge character sheet
« on: January 08, 2021, 04:29:18 pm »
Thank you SO much for this. I've been trying to get everybody I play with to use these sorts of sheets, and this one seems to be much for stable than SagaSheet.

This is great, and I'd love to run it!  But is there now no way to download the whole final version for non-electronic use?  I spend all day looking at screens, so I like my gaming time to be a break from that.  I typically use actual pencils and paper when running.
You may absolutely still use the link, it still works, but note that it doesn't contain minor revisions such as more balanced stat stat sheets for some enemies and a few conversions I missed. It shouldn't be anything major though.

How does boarding work? I can't seem to find specific information on mechanics related to it.

I bet you weren't expecting this! I spent the last 3 or so days working on this project, almost nonstop. It was a lot of work, but I was able to make Starfall fully compatible with Saga edition. I have designed the DC rolls and encounter stats to be challenging for a party of 4 at 5th level, so I would classify this as a CL5 adventure. You can increase the DCs and enemy count for a higher challenge.

I want to give special thanks to Donovan Morningfire and RichterBelmont for creating their respective NPC lists, which were an incredible resource for finding good equivalent NPCs. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Lukewarner for all his work on the wikia, which was a massive help in its own right.

Some notes:

  • To use this properly, read the PDF and use the word document when I've prompted you to in the PDF. You'll note that the word document is not sorted in any way, and that's the fault of not having a cohesive plan when I was starting out.
  • The program I used to edit the PDF, Sejda, is a massive piece of garbage. You will need to be patient for waiting for the pages to load due to the way I had to hide the original text I had to write over. Some people I've given the file to have had trouble getting it to load at all. I should also note that this isn't particularly pretty looking, due to the nature of me aiming for substance over style.
  • My next project is to port all of this to the wikia to get around these problems, but in the meantime, cut me a little slack in this regard.

With all that in mind, here is the link! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xUUMexn3R7brEahebIfXp6F0LtgHoVij/view?usp=sharing

EDIT: Reuploaded, as I forgot to include the ship stats.

EDIT 2: About a third of way done porting this to the wikia. I'll include a link when it's completely finished.

EDIT 3: https://swse.fandom.com/wiki/Starfall The wiki conversion has been completed. It is now the superior version as it is far more readable than my nightmarish attempt to edit a PDF from decades ago. In addition, it includes several fixes to errors I made as well as far better NPC stats. My attempt at those were poor at best. I have crossed out the link so your eyes will be drawn here. I'll keep the link up for posterity, but just use the wiki version.

Hey there, me again! My games have been going fantastic and I pretty much have the whole system down now. Right now, I'm obsessively collecting all possible homebrew documents so that I can preserve all this information if something were to happen to this website. Currently, I'm looking for this fanmade source book called New Empire. I will now quote Technological Terrors 1(archived in the compiled files thread) by somebody who identifies themselves in the document as Erik Bjelke.

Quote
NE:  New Empire.  An alternate Star Wars future, created by myself, beginning some 1,000 years after the end of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.  For more details, see the New Empire Sourcebook.

That's all I have on the subject. Does anybody recognise it and perhaps know where to get it? I don't want any more information about this game to be lost.

The Senate / Re: Regarding Force Secrets and Techniques

Yes, you´re missing something blatant. They´re given to Force prestige classes. Specifically, Techniqes to Jedi Knight, Sith Apprentice and Force Adept every odd level, and Secrets to Jedi master, Force disciple and Sith lord every level past first (I missed it first time when I was playing SWSE too, no worries :D)
Of course it was that simple! :D Thanks for the help, I definitely missed that.

I've looked everywhere, in the core rules, on the wiki, searching the forums here, and elsewhere, and I have not been able to find an explanation of how you're supposed to acquire secrets and techniques. It sort of seems like I'm just supposed to arbitrarily give them to my players? I just feel like I'm missing something blatant, considering I haven't found anybody else asking this question.

I'll note that there is a good bit of stuff in the LECG that may be "too good" and it contains two things I outright forbid.
What would those be specifically?
Two thing I specifically Forbid?  The Nagai species (if you want this take a Near-Human out of UR) and the Armor Mastery/Knights Armor Talent Tree talent.  I'll also throw in the Autofire Sweep feat if you think I'll let you drop that 6" radius cone template anywhere within PBR and hit 20+ squares with autofire while only using 10 shots; an area of six squares I'm ok with but NOT 24 squares.

Some of the equipment in the book may be nearly "strictly better than" most other equipment which is why I don't give a free pass on equipment in a book even if I give building access.  There are other things.
Sounds like this book was solidly within those that were rushed out the door as the licence was slipping. Thanks for the tips!

Star Wars Saga Edition General / Successfully hosted my first game!

It actually went incredibly well and my players were just having a blast the whole time. It helped that I only had two players who are some of the most patient people in the world, so all the snags on my part in the beginning weren't perceived as annoying in the slightest. Once you get into the swing of things, the rules become easier and easier to remember. For the most part, we stuck to the core rulebook and didn't really use mechanics from any of the other books. I haven't read through all of them yet, but it seems like the books just contain stuff like more ships, races, stat blocks, skills, etc etc. Are there books that introduce completely new mechanics? Furthermore, are there any house rules that you've found that are objectively an improvement over the base rules? Now that I know I'm definitely playing this game, I want to go all in and use all material possible for the best experience.

I'm hoping to run my first game in Saga edition soon and I was hoping that I could adapt DoD to the Old Republic era. I saw that there used to be a thread on this very thing on the WoC forums but... you know. Does anybody have a backup or has done it themselves? Failing that, does anybody know how difficult it would be to do it on the fly myself? So far, all I've done is rewrite the title crawl:

It is a dark time in the galaxy. The evil Sith Empire has spread from the edge of the galaxy to the Deep Core, and everywhere the Sith's tyranny can be felt.
Fleeing from the oppression of the Dark Lord's minions, agents of Senator Morbeth Alddra have run to a remote space station above Brentaal. Known to be a powerful opponent of the Sith, Alddra may be the last hope of freedom in the galaxy.
In the hopes of stopping these dissidents before they can reach the Senator, the Sith has alerted its forces on Sel Zonn Station, where the struggle for liberty rages on, and the first sparks of rebellion have begun to burn. . . .

I don't think it's perfect, but I think it's good enough for now.

Anyway, let me know if you have anything to share! Also, hello everybody, I'm new here!  ;D
