Star Wars Saga Edition General / Re: New creature/alien input

Needless to say your reference picture is a little disturbing.

I looked at the stats, and I personally do not see any problems with how you have this creature creation set up.

It is meant to be powerful and challenging as I am going to have it residing in an old Jedi Temple and immersing itself in the Force energies that still surround the structure.

When you mention this, are you meaning in terms of a Force Nexus or some concentration of the Force in the Temple? And if so, how much of a concentration? Minor Force Site, Major Force Site, or Force Nexus?

The Senate / Re: Cybernetic limbs

I can take a look at it over the next couple of days.  I did the same thing for RCR diseases and poisons, I think I could make acceptable conversions.

Although it might be easier to just modify standard cybernetic parts with Tech Specialist and call it a day.

Well, I mean of course, you don't have to do all the work alone. I can look at it, too. The main reason I was asking was I have a character a player created in one of my campaigns - while I used RCR - who has cybernetic arms and legs that increase his strength and speed. I wanted to convert it to where it not only fit in the Saga Edition parameters, but also not make him be a god-like cyborg.

Since this is brought up, and since I have been a glutton for punishment at this point, I am going to ask...

Is it possible to transition any stats for cybernetics found in the RCR sourcebook "The Hero's Guide"?

I understand that including some of the stats gained by using the cybernetics would probably break the game in some ways, but is it possible to water them down and make them less Cyborg Superman-esque?

Rogo has the highest gamer-chlorian count I've seen in a lifeform. ;)

Welcome!

HA! I see what you did there.

To all newcomers, I bid you a fond welcome. (bows)

Nice to hear someone can handle the truth.  I've seen people come asking for thoughts on various things over the years and become very offended when people didn't take an immediate liking to them.

I will admit, the only major thing that "offended" me was when you called BS on my stat rolls. Which, given the method we used and its probability, I can understand. I am not one to over-embellish anything about my character, be it stats or equipment. It was just how the dice fell. Believe me, this was the first and - at the moment - only time this has happened in any of my character creations.

As for The Wookie's Might, I barely used it. One thing I did not add in the stats block was an additional lightsaber I built after creating the other. The second one had the normal stats you would expect in a standard lightfoil (2d6 with a +1 to attack rolls) and was my go-to weapon whenever I fought against anyone. I never revealed The Wookie's Might unless the situation called for a more powerful means of aggressive negotiations.

So, after three campaigns that have spanned a couple of years, I have been able to put together a stat block PDF of one of my best characters. I would like to show him off to all of you. But before I do, a few things I want to point out.

1. By a fluke, when rolling my stats, I was able to roll all 18s in the first campaign introducing this character.
2. During the event where my character created his lightsaber, the GM set up the usual UtF check for building the lightsaber and added a UtF check for attuning the lightsaber. Hence why the result is stated as it is in the file.

Please be fair in your critique of this character. By all means, you guys are welcome to use him, but first contact me via e-mail or PM before using him.

1.  A FLUKE?!?  I call BULL S***.  I don't know what insane stat rolling method was being used and how many attempts it took with insane method but otherwise I'm sorry your 1/55,248,000,000 event happened to be rolling six 18s.  With that kind of stat block I'd be treating you at +5 levels above whatever the character sheet says so you're showing us what I'd count as a 19th level character.

2.  Oh great, a GM who doesn't have a clue what he's doing.  Natural 20s on skill checks don't mean anything special.  After that you're looking at an absolutely INSANE weapon which gives the character an unholy +5 attack and an extra die of damage PLUS it seems Triple Crit for free.

While I also recognize how Destinies can be completed is seem oh so convenient to have two Destinies whose completion easily seems to be within some definition the player has.  Admittedly I have little idea what went into that Discovery Destiny and more importantly what makes that specific padawan so critical.  Then I love how I always see the Education Destiny as "train X is the ways of the Force" using its completion for another +5 to UtF making characters even more insane especially if the RAW is followed with Skill vs Defense.

While I can see it being nice to have someone to tell you they are using your character the idea of not allowing someone to use it it a bit far fetched.  People assign stats to characters all the time so you're supposed "perfect ability roll" unfortunately isn't all that special.  After than anyone could build the same character.  As it is I do see that "character sheet" is incomplete as it seems to be missing a lot of feats and I'd need to check on talents.  I'm guessing there is a good bit of room for optimizing which of course would be completely unnecessary when you've already got stats that take care of any possible weakness a character may have.

Maybe this all sounds harsh but you asked for critique and I believe I'm being fair in them.

Your critique is most appreciated and shall be taken into consideration as I continue to play Saga Edition. This was one of my first characters I played as in one of the first ever campaigns I had played in. Any and all advice would be appreciated, and I shall use your critique in future games and characters.

I couldn't use him directly in my campaign where all the characters are built on 25 point-buy. He would more likely be some kind of legendary Heracles type figure.

When I created this character, we used the 4d6 roll system (rolling 4d6 and taking away the lowest number). This was one of my first characters I ever created, and one of the first campaigns I had ever played, so I was glad Raluf turned out as he did.

The "Heracles type figure" aspect is kind of what I was going with at his endgame. I figured other players wouldn't be happy with how powerful he was and - as I suspected - they formed a coup with the GM to have him ousted during the last campaign he was in.

The Senate / Re: Has anyone statted a bulk of the SWTOR characters?
« on: August 17, 2018, 01:47:08 am »
I know some SWTOR characters have been statted, but has anyone statted characters such as Darth Marr, Skotia, etc?

Not knowing much about the SWTOR MMORPG, I am interested in attempting to create stats for some of its characters. I might be willing to give it a shot.

I always like jumping outside of the canon/Legends timeline and make an Alternate Universe campaign. That being said, I tend to include some elements of the canon/Legends storyline in any and all campaigns I GM. You basically have to have some of the film/comic/book framework to provide an understanding of the Star Wars universe, thus giving you the basis with which to create your alternate universe.

Well, whenever you'll be up to the task, I look forward to seeing it when it's done.
One other thing I noticed is Page 50 is missing.

Been looking for some new material. Thank you very much for finding this.

My only complaint is it is hard to read some of the text (some of it looks really faded), but it is probably due to scanning problems.

Star Wars Saga Edition General / Re: Kell Dragon Stats (Need Help)

That's probably what I'd do although part of me thinks there was a "lesser" dragon somewhere as well.

In the TotG sourcebook, there are two Krayt Dragons mentioned. One is the normal Krayt Dragon; the other is the Canyon Krayt Dragon, which is a smaller version. I am thinking taking the Canyon Krayt Dragon's template and spicing it up a little bit so it is a weaker version.

I'm not looking things up at this hour but if it's a darkside related Beast it may be in the Jedi Academy Training Manual.  After that your two best bets for beasts are Threats of the Galaxy and Unknown Regions (UR).  Not sure what your beast is supposed to look like but if you find something that you think would be close to the right "power" you may be able to just reskin those stats for your new beast.

The "Beast Class" is presented toward the back of your SECR.  UR has a greatly expanded section on how to create Beast.  These two sources would help you create your own beast if you so desire.

The Kell Dragon is featured in the KoTOR video game. As for the sourcebook locations you mentioned, I looked through every single book and could not find an entry for the Beast. However, I will consult the UR book to try to create one.

According to the Star Wars wiki, the Kell Dragon is cousin to the Krayt Dragon, and while not as Gargantuan as the Krayt Dragon, it is still pretty lethal. I could take the weaker of the two Krayt Dragons mentioned in TotG and weaken it to closely match what I'm looking for.

RAW = Rules As Written.  In other words what you will find in the rulebooks.  I guess it does have several different meanings...but it RPGs it's a term I've seen for many years.  In some ways it is the opposite of House Rules which may be throwing out the rules as written in the books.

Ah. I see.
