Very cool character concept, Lukewarner. I sure do miss contests here, and really enjoyed checking out the submissions on the wiki

You are correct, the heavyweights here are always inspiring in heir opinions and comprehension. They've also helped me to great extent, and even though I don't play these days, I still write and prepare for the next big adventure.

Moreover, anyone reading this is probably deeply moved to hear of a sense of accomplishment and closure to this part of your adventure. As the credits roll and the orchestra queues up, thank you for sharing, friend :)

Not to mention that the descriptive, albeit somewhat situational, use of lightsaber form powers (JATM) actually add volumes to cinematic flare. Most can be achieved as standard actions, and while all benefit from dual wield / double ended, two benefit exclusively from *mult-bladed battering.
*Twin Strike= deals regular damage for one lightsaber plus base weapon damage from your secondary additional lightsaber. Can cheese it up with a shoto bonus to hit and wallop a regular 2d8 as icing on the cake.
*Rising Whirlwind, other than Negate energy, one of the few (self) powers to add temp HP

In the climatic Darth Maul fight, we see a flurry of blades and footwork going into some rather impressive choreography.
Framing the following lightsaber form powers in the hands of a double-ended lightsaber you can pull off a range of what I consider rather cinematic incentives.

It’s easy to picture a swirling double ended lightsaber hitting nearby foe, as a reaction, when addressing incoming blaster fire. Deflecting Slash, lets you strike an adjacent enemy while mitigating a ranged attack. Situational to non-area attacks, admittedly, but handy if you or an ally has Bantha Rush.

Cleave, without Str 13 or Power Attack OR the trigger of finishing off enemy= Sarlacc Sweep: standard action to hit your primary and a secondary target.  Great for being flanked, but dependent on mobs, like cleave…

Few lightsaber Form powers better snapshot a double-ended lightsaber destructive onslaught of potential as Saber swarm and Assured Strike. Saber swarm lends two attacks replacing feat costs with a higher Use the Force skill to offset attack penalties. Assured Strike allows 2 attacks (3 w force point) keeping the better...as if one was probing an adversaries defenses with both ends of the lightsaber

Both Riposte lightsaber form powers (Makashi Riposte and Fluid Riposte) make for splendid melee vs. melee combat, especially coupled with Rapid reactin which allows a 1=per-Encounter second chance when adapting to reactions (RECG p29).

---

Additionally, under CORE p77 chapter on skills, activating a Force Power …is a (trained only) application of that skill, which means it can be hastened by a nobles “Inspire Haste” talent, p44. In other words, if you have a Player character ally, or a droid ally with Inspire Haste, even under [protocol] rules, a swift action can be spent so that YOU  have a standard action, and can also make a Use the Force check as a move action (at the cost of a swift action… meaning you could, during your turn activate two offensive lightsaber form powers and up your battle savvy to great magnitude. Sure you are burning through them if you decide on certain combos, but maybe consider a squire-bot to keep you adaptable to such expenditures.

@DroidDreamer had an amazing post on this idea.
http://thesagacontinues.createaforum.com/general-discussion/marksman-h-combat-remote/msg27982/#msg27982 If one were to push this dangerously fun idea of a double bladed swashbuckler, aided by her handy dandy little droid remote, to its limits…

Step 1: Buy a Marksman-H combat remote for 300 credits, and make sure your GM is cool with allowing it to be part of the party and gain a cut of the XP. If not, it can still aid your attacks as a swift action [protocol], but if so, first chance you get buy the little guy an intelligence upgrade (+2 or preferably +4 Intelligence via superior Tech upgrade).
Step 2: Assign bonus skills to your little combat remote, or droidified wrist computer. When it levels weigh your options, but also consider Non-Heroic droid cross-classing into Noble for the inspire Haste talent.
Step 3: Profit. If you are playing a higher level character (as you mentioned lightsaber Form Talents) when implementing this idea, a level 2 (non-heroic) may jump several levels.
The perfect assistant might look like

Marksman-H Combat remote NH2 (as printed) CL0
_Feats: Dodge, Pointblank Shot, Weapon Focus (pistols), Weapon Prof (pistols)
__Skills: Initiative +10
Intelligence upgrade +4 = +2 skills (2 skills you’d like him to be able to aid you on)

L3/ Noble 1 Inspire Haste + Rapport

Other worthwhile feats to consider
under protocol rules your droid an aid you as a swift action
Coordinated Attack: (CR) Auto succeed when aiding another on atk or suppress at point blank
Bab 2
Coordinated Barrage: (CW) When you aid an attack, for every 3 points the atk exceeds target Ref Def, add +1d of damage. Max +5d if 5 allies with this feat aided on the Atk
Bab 5

Alternatively, a droidified item without the ability to aid you on attacks might be easier to pitch.
In conclusion, droid muchkining aside, double-ended lightsaber flare may also be greatly enhanced with lightsaber form powers.

Congratulations on running your first game, That's wonderful to hear!
Like you, my early games were made better by patient and creative friends who inspired me to run with it.

Most of my home brew stuff get's awfully complicated for no reason, and little of it has stood the test of time... But it's too much fun to create our own new Force Regimens, or wacky skill challenges to not experiment with an idea. Taking away toy, there's a section on that n the core rule book, is probably the hardest part of the learning curve. So experiment, with a contingency plan to simplify "if" you have to. ;)
Even the mandalorian's ship can get picked apart by Jawas ? Maybe picking up the pieces is a good example of nerfing short-sighted generosity.

In the rebellion era campaign guide, the introduction of backgrounds instead of Destiny points (Destinies in general) became a personal favorite, and a destiny point cost to fuel Fore powers, Secrets just got home-brewed into a 3 force point cost. Think 2 Force points at the right time if I were to borrow a Final Fantasy term like Limit Break.

There's also a Daily Force point optional rule (JATM p16) that allows characters to use force points at a different pace.

As you refine your play-style, I could suggest experimenting with how you organize initiative and turn tracking. Have a sheet that works for you to see what the characters are doing, then laminate it so you can just fill in names and NPC's on their order count. Hopefully it will help coming back from breaks and visualizing interesting encounters.

As kaitoujuliet said "I combine Jump, Climb, and Swim into Athletics." which has been an all around pleasurable house rule for our groups.

But as you play, feel free to come back and share your house rules and homebrew stuff with us. A little inspiration goes a very long way. A single image can be the inception of an entire campaign, just like a fun mechanic can generate lasting excitement for a familiar concept.
Cheers

Beautifully articulated, FairyTaleJedi. I hope that if and when you get to see it, that you work Fold Space in as a prerequisite to Communion  :)

I liked it too. Definitely my favorite of the new batch and redeeming to those who felt thrown off by the buildup of the latest installments.
In The Last Jedi we saw a distant Force Illusions of Luke and, master status aside, it was possible (if only barely by high-ranking Jedi Master & Force Disciple) within the saga edition mechanics and plethora of feats, powers, and various talents boosted by Force Secrets. It was a spectacle that made me want to dig the books out and ponder a way to replicate it. Fun, I’ll admit it, I had fun with the new movies.

With our final installment, we see the extraordinary usage a power only described as the Fold Space Force power. I do not want to speak much on it, it was a spectacle, different, and thought provoking.

Game antics aside, it was lovely, and if you have not already been turned to the dark side, it will get you right in the feels. I would suggest you try your best to enjoy it for what it is, and remember it never belonged to you in the first place.

On that note, there is one thing I would like to speak on, and I wonder if the community can relate?

Maybe you identify with a song and feel like the artist and you share some incredible connection that only the two of you know about…. Except that, the artist probably does not know you unless you stalk them. We have been seeing much of the same among star wars fans. And if you are reading this, and have sworn an oath against the franchise, like some ex-girlfriend you are bitter about, just remember someone else loves her more than you ever did. Bad-mouthing her might say more about you than about her.
May the Force be with you, always.

Here's an idea that I believe to be unique and applicable to any era with Hyperdrive technology.

A craft is built to support a dozen massive telescopes. These telescopes are able to all be focused at the same specific location with pinpoint accuracy. Some of the systems are simply light based, others infrared, and another with incredible electromagnetic sensors.

These telescopes were designed to be able to read a wrist-mounted chrono from space. But the punchline is, the system can see one light year.
If a crime, political espionage, or any other action of interest occurred under favorable circumstances, the unit will be able to watch the event unfold in real-time by positioning itself the correct distance, and relative position from the planet (from the time it occurred).

Funding could come from a variety of places; from the expected military budgets to wealthy and or from altruistic sources.

To recap: a telescope that can watch in real-time the goings of a political leader's craft, troop movement, or nearly any outdoor event... could be profitable to those who seek information (bothan maybe). For story purposes, perhaps limit the window of visibility from 30 days after event to 370 days after event. Some events will need to be viewed from certain times and distances if their local star is in the way

Edit: the window of viewable time should be short based on the distances in this fan-fic equation. Say 1-5 minutes of viewable ground activity and maybe 1-10 minutes for air traffic before calculations for a jump to the next suitable location to continue viewing. This craft would benefit greatly from an Aing tii space folding pilot (master of operations), but that's just speculation.

Star Wars Saga Edition General / Re: Sequel Trilogy Revised
« on: January 18, 2019, 02:55:02 pm »
I would add one thing (which I thought of awhile back, inspired by comments that Lucas made about his own sequel trilogy outline).

Luke explains what he's learned on Ahch-To, namely that in ancient times, the Force and the midi-chlorians were always there, but in the background. Then a dark power arose and threatened all life in the galaxy, and that's when the midi-chlorians "awoke" and first began to endow people with Force sensitivity, in order that they might fight off this darkness.

It's this ancient darkness that Snoke serves, thus giving him some cred, instead of being just a random throw-away Palpatine wanna be, and also giving him a motivation different than imposing fascism on the galaxy. Instead, he's more like Vitiate in that his organization is just a means to an end - allowing him to destroy all life in the galaxy and become a god.

Alternately, but in the same vein, Snoke is actually the Son from Mortis. After many millennia, he's finally reached the end of his life cycle and he's dying. And ripping all life from the galaxy is the only way for him to become truly immortal.

Thus we're tying the whole saga together. TPM touched on where Force sensitivity comes from, but not why. This gives us the why. It also gives us not just another climactic showdown between good and evil, but the fate of all life hangs in the balance.

Brilliant! Top scores, FTJ.
This is a really thought provoking utilization of loose ends into a cohesive bundle of possibilities.

This has my little gears turning for the first time in a while!  Thank you for sharing!

Star Wars Saga Edition General / Re: Episode I Infinities

As a Qui Gon fan, I especially like it!

If the council would be willing to let young Obi Wan train Anakin, I believe Qui Gon would soon have his way. I felt like Obi Wan was speaking Qui Gon's words when he said he would do it without the council's permission, if he must.

What if Qui Gon was the perfect teacher? What if he even let some of the subtle version of romance slide? He might see it as his (Qui Gon's, that is) Destiny to facilitate a royal blood line.

Qui Gon's respect and personal knowledge of the Count might actually assist the council see through the political mess, but I believe the Sith would soon identify Qui Gon as a threat to their plot and eliminate him... Sidious might make it the Count's job, thus placing Anakin at direct odds with the count, and Ani might take a dark step when he kills the count, and then some.

I can see Vader being supremely powerful, possibly not loosing as much of his raw power (extremities) and becoming something Sidious could only control by using Padme as a bargaining chip...  But, just speculating ) ... thus re-introducing the offspring under drastically different maturation.

I hope to you add more feedback as this unfolds. Wonderful idea.

The Senate / Re: Power Rewrites
« on: October 24, 2018, 08:08:08 pm »
Thanks again for the feedback. I really enjoyed the way you elaborated on the Farseeing power, and others.
I can see how they could present balance issues within a party that is diverse in its classes, but enjoy how some of the language transcends mechanics and stirs the waters of a character's role.

While I have not been as active in the PbP gaming realms lately, we have play tested a good amount of these. For simplicity, we elected to only select one [special rewrite] per go, and flavored it as one's 'signature power'.

Thanks again, and best of luck!

snip...

Short review: the best Disney Star Wars movie yet, especially for gamers as it's basically a rpg adventure. If you're on the fence, I recommend you go see it.

...snip

Agreed.

I actually liked L3-37's spunky fembot bravado, originally thinking it might have been Gwendoline Christie (Cpt Phasma) doing her voice (but was not). Chewie got lots of screen time, luckily, and it was like falling in love with that shaggy wookie all over again. While my initial appraisal of the actor playing Han was unfavorable, I'll retract all grumbling and say I am glad they got him to do it.

Crimson Dawn ... all I can say is WOW, talk about surprised. I think my next campaign will be a crimson dawn themed story set directly after the Solo movie.

Ron Howard did a FANtastic job. The overall look seems more closely appropriate to segue into the Original Trilogy than even Rogue One (which is still my favorite, but Solo might be a close second).

Minimal complaints. A few "lucky" saves, and the train heist scene botherd me a little. Like, why was fuel in only one train car, why were there so many train cars that seemed to be empty? Anyway... little things aside, I'd highly recommend.

Very impressive, and quite a thought provoking recap. It sounds like you and your group had a great time!
Roll20 has seemed like a fun option, one I have yet to explore fully, but can absolutely appreciate the experience playing/running such a scene. Well done!
I really enjoyed reading through what you posted, thank you for sharing.

The Senate / Re: Hyperspace travel times (my system)
« on: April 28, 2018, 11:20:36 am »
Hi,

I created this - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0nCArrYaMvWUVpvbHF2RGZTNTg/view
The travel times have been quite shortened, based on various sources and interpretations. Galaxy size, hyperspace speed. Most of the movies and series show that travelling from a point to the other takes hours and not days. I think it also contributes to the pace of the story.

Anyway, the galaxy map is based on a hexagon grid. Each hex has a color depending on its "navigability" correspond to a travel time to cross it. From green/1h in the core worlds to red/4h in the outer rim. Space lanes are represented by dots connecting hexes. When a ship flies through a space lane dot, time travel is halved. I then apply the HS multiplicator. For instance, it takes around 30 hours with a light freighter to travel between Ord Mantell and Malachor. With a ×1 hyperdrive, we have 6 hours between Coruscant and Bespin, 1 hour between Corellia and Coruscant, 13.5h between Hoth and Bothawui...

I did not add hazards and route improvements but I will to recreate what Jormundre was talking about. The balance between risk and travel time.

I let our pilot use this map to plan his travels, like a mini-mini-game.

Very nicely done! I may have to borrow this :)

https://roll20.net/ has a fairly user-friendly map making tool. We've have used it, off and on, and enjoy many of the free options it provides.

Often a simple drawing on something like 'Microsoft Paint' can get the group through. It has an option to lay grid lines, which wont show up unless you copy and crop a screenshot, so there are little tricks that by experimenting can make it easier over time. I like to  save a master copy, and store various renditions of modified maps on a site like https://imgur.com/. I imagine there are dozens quicker ways to achieve the same goal, but for simplicity's sake, these are not bad FREE options.
With play-by-posts, I really enjoy running games with maps, and you tend to need a link to plug your maps in.

I like the paint option because I can draw on top of, as well as augment, maps found online. Your personalized touches can range from minor to quite complicated.
