Game Recruitment Area / Re: Play by post?
« on: February 12, 2019, 06:10:02 pm »
I'm sorry I didn't see the response of people interested until just now.  If I were to run a game I think it would have to be play by post and it would be based on the concept of Star Wars: The Old Republic.  The key figures would be the same but the story would be our own.  I may rework some ideas from the game but it would not be the same.  That being said I don't have as much time as I hoped, I can probably post once every day but even then sometimes things come up.

What I would like to do I think is a Jedi/Republic oriented games set in the Old Republic.  Same concept as the MMO but with some changes to the story.  I don't like what they did with Revan for example.

Honestly I am not sure yet.  I haven't run a game since around 2008ish but I have all the books.  I don't imagine anyone would want to play Dawn of Defiance, right?

I would like to play Saga Edition again.  I haven't in quite some time.  Would anyone be interested in playing?  I may try to run it here or I might try something new and run it on discord.

I've made some google documents as things come out.  I will post some later tonight.  Looking for anything in particular?  Would you want to work with me on making a better doc?  I made attempts to adopt the new FFG stuff but it just isn't my cup of tea.

I have looked over your document and while at times I get the same idea to "fix the system," at the end of the day 1) it isn't as broken as people online seem to believe and 2) if you change a rule here and there it usually means changing talents/feats/powers throughout all the books. If you really feel the math is that off Id take from D&D 5th Edition which has the smaller bonuses may scale better but if you do that where does it end.  Those numbers may be good for characters but how do you handle vehicles that have been made for the rules as written.

Off the top of my head I do not remember what others.  I guess I will just use whatever is in the weapon section.  That being said, how would you handle tractor beams vs. starfighters?  Can proximity spread from SotG work with it?

The only thing that may need to be done is stat out new ships and gear but we have plenty of examples to pull from.  I'm probably going to stat BB units, T-70 X-Wings and the two new TIE's.  I'd like to stat the new star destroyer but the only info I can find on it is that it is 2x as long as a star destroyer and has over 3000 weapons.

Which grapple modifier should be used for the Modified Incom-T47 Airspeeder?  It says +18 in the stat block and +27 under the harpoon gun.  I've noticed the stat block and grapple modifiers are different on a couple vehicles.  I assumed the 18 was correct since that is what it would be according to the conversion document.  While possible 1d20 + BAB + 16 vs 1d20 + BAB + 37 (removed stated attack bonus) just seemed a bit much to me.

Mind Probe from JATM works.  In fact that is what they say he is doing in the book.

Think a skill challenge would work in place of existing mechanic?

Am I reading the rules wrong or is it nearly impossible to take a AT-AT down with a tow cable?

Hello
Could someone explain how pbp works and are there any games with an open slot?  I have only been a GM for star wars and am looking to play for once.  I have all books.

I didn't think of using multi-part object rules.  How would you calculate HP?

Would that be better or do you think a Skill Encounter would be work out better?

I think they are called Police Gunships.  Tarkin was in one last season, they are like the LAAT/I.
