Shev looks over the frantic action. It seems there´s not much he could do to help here.
Guess I´ll go greet the imps. he thinks to himself, and starts for the street they should be aprroaching from. He doesn´t bother to look for Bor, and instead calls him via comlink. Shev assumes he has it ready.
"You did manage to destroy the computer core, right, Bor?"
As he walks, he grabs one of the guards. "Get half the guards and come with me. We´re going to slow the imps down." He doesn´t bother waiting for the answer, and moves on. The last bike catches the mandalorian´s eye.
"Leave me the bike for evac."
And with that, he quickly finds a good, hidden position outside, switches his rifle for autofire, and waits for approaching enemies.

Having finished her skimming of the local news networks, Eri would have found some time to visit the vehicles and cargo, just to make sure that everything was ready for rolling out.

As soon as Sin has finished relaying her information, Eri amplifies her voice to help Shev spread the word.  "Hurry!  We must get to the trucks immediately!  Our mission depends on it!"  She moves around the warehouse to encourage people.  "This is what we've been preparing for!  I know you'll do your very best!"

She places herself near the garage door where she can swing aboard one of the trucks once the convoy starts moving.

It sounds like most of you aren't planning on sleeping in with the work all done although the various truck crews intend to get all the sleep they can in the makeshift camp.

About daybreak some of you start getting "feelings" of "RAID" when Sin suddenly returns on the bike.  Almost as soon as she's in the warehouse you can just hear her saying "a large Imperial Force is a few minutes behind me and coming this way.  I'm pretty sure they know where we are!"

What are you going to do?

Dirk would join up for some light drinks and after returning would help with loading and any other squaring away that needed to happen. He’s also make sure the on-site crew were doing well before offering to help watch. Dirk will sleep in the office.

Oh, OK, then a standard sentry. I imagined it as a rooftop lookout, or something simillar. Level 3 circuit sounds fine.
Title: Re: StarWars: Approaching Impact
Post by: StevenO on February 17, 2022, 08:00:11 am
Shev isn't especially well suited to take over Sin's "watch" which is happening off sight and which requires a bit of deception to pull off.  The Umbaran in Imperial areas doesn't attract the kind of attention that a Mandalorian Warrior would although she may appreciate the thought.  A local sentry would very much appreciate the added rest; would you want the circuit on level 3 or the more meandering patrol of of the lower levels.  I'll note that a roof guard is not a standard post in part because it's outside and because it's exposed to outside observation which betrays activity.

So the "extra bike" that was going to get loaded into the trucks will be loaded.  Sounds like the trucks will be fully loaded.

After spending a bit of time drinking, Shev will return and go to sleep. He´ll use a free bunk in the camp, and after some sleep, he´ll take over a watch duty from Sin, so she can get some sleep too.
Shev won´t take a bike out, and he does suggest the other one should be loaded now - it´s better to be ready sooner than later.

Seeing no additional responses it sounds like there'd be a little light drinking which all of the group should be able to handle.  It also sounds like the cargo from that last container will get loaded before calling it a night.

Sin is spending the night staking out the Empire (did she take a bike and would you load the other into a truck now?) to hopefully get a jump on any funny business.  Then it'd come down to where people want to sleep although somewhere in the warehouse is recommended:  Container camp has what might qualify as some bunks; the break room although it's not especially comfortable; you might spend the night in the second floor office; and the other thought I have is just stringing up a hammock pretty much anywhere along the walkways although they might not be the best for sleeping.

Bor will wait not-so-patiently for the last container to be delivered.
He will start transfering the cargo as soon as it arrives. Delay won't bring any specific security concern even though he'll search for tracking / dangerous devices in the containers (visually and with his security kit (?) ).

He won't go out to drink unless asked by his teamates.

The shipment of the last container just seems to be late for the typical reasons.  Ship came in a little later than expected and is taking a little longer to get unloaded.  You should be expecting it later in the evening.  Question will be do you transfer it's cargo yet tonight as some of the rest of the crew wants to go drinking; you might wait for tomorrow or some could work on the cargo while others go and have fun.

Does being late bring up any security concerns?  If so how would you want to deal with them?
If you want to go drinking are you going to go out and do it ("we hear there's a new place opening up tonight." or just drink in and how much drinking would you do?

Shev will try to find out what we know about he missing transport - why is it late, if it has some trouble and requires assistance, or whether we shoule expect some trouble coming with it. He´ll first direct these questions to Eri, as she is in charge and knows the crew. If she doesn´t take the hint and try to get the answers, he´ll take it upon himself, but he´ll be annoyed as he was hired to shoot other things than questions.

Other than that, he´ll take care of local security, complementig Sin and taking over watch duty, when she rests.

Sin finds a com-link somewhere (in the warehouse if possible) and keeps an eye on Imperial movement in the city. Making sure she can signal the rest (by establishing a com-link connection) if the Imperials start moving in their direction or cutting of exits to the city (or compound) or some such.

In other words, she tries to keep things safe. Hoping to catch some sleep when they are on the way.

After many hours of working at various tasks which almost seemed to take months it's getting late but the last of the agricultural products that came in on the Roundup haven't made it to get loaded just yet.  You do get word that it's on the way but it's certainly late and moving the contents could get later; because you're supposed to be waiting until later in the day so you can easily get out the settlement gates you might push that back.

Despite that the mood is still pretty good and some of the crew member have been discussing taking off and enjoying tonight before the big mission.  Having been put in charge of security your group kind had the finally say on that and even if you don't some might have a stash of "adult beverage" around the warehouse to enjoy tonight.

What's the thought of the crew.

When Bor starts seing the other members coming down (after their first shift), he looks down to his watch : "Damn. 8hrs already"

He stores his newly assembled 5 grenades, makes a quick check on the loading status and heads to a quiet resting place.

"I'll pass this round, Shev. Gonna get some sleep."

With everything checked, Shev stops one of the workers. "Where´s a nice drinking hole close by?" After he gets an answer, he taps a comm. "Going for one cold. Anyone joining?"
The mandalorian waits only for several seconds before going out. If aynone join, he finds puzzling that Shev takes a detour and looks up from several spots. He opens comm again. "Can´t see you, Cin´ciri. Good spot you picked there."
After that he goes to the cantina for one ale, and goes back to take a nap before taking over a watch duty from Sin.

When the time comes, Shev picks the rifle and camo poncho, and goes to the roof. "Su´cuy." he greets her. "Anything going on? Go get some sleep."
Shev takes the electrobinoculars, picks a nice spot, and keeps looking for trouble. Sometimes he checks over with electrobinoculars or moves around to get a different viewpoint, but always stays watchful and in cover.

With her computer search wrapped up, Eri'anya helps with other warehouse tasks until the group is ready to go.  She also spends some time doing some light maintenance on her concussion rifle and blaster pistol.

As they set up for driving out, Eri offers to take shotgun on a truck.  She taps her comm.  "I read you loud and clear."

"Elek", comm´s working well." Shev replies to Sin, though he sounds a bit distracted with his upgrade efforts. "Got your position, check on you later. Shev out."
He first strips his armor and tinkers with it a long time. He adds and switches some of the components from the supply crate, then moves and adjusts others. When he is satisfied with the basics, he starts to don the armor again, piece by piece, and adjusts everything to fit perfectly before continuing. Finally, he dons the helmet and his armed gauntlets. Suddenly, he activates his new fireblade and slashes at a wall.
"Kandosii´la" He looks pleased, as he inspects the effortlessly made cut.
Satisfied with the armor, he turns his attention to the rifle. He fiddles with it a bit, attaching the scope. He then turns back to the crew loading trucks, and scans the area through the scope, tweaking it for a better fit.
"Relax." he chuckles as a response to the looks he gets, and shows a powerpack in his hand. "I´m not THAT crazy." He rearms the rifle and puts it down for now. "Needs testing, but that will wait till we´re outside."
With that done, he moves to check on the loading.

As the others start to prepare, Sin wraps up her rifle and makes her way to the roof or the highest look out point she can find. Making sure Shew and the others know where she is going.

"Sin listening, audibility is good!"

She takes a look around and note from what directions it's possible to approach the compound, as well as if those are obscured or visible from here. She will look around with short intervals in-between. If she sees something of interest she will use electrobinoculars. If she does not, she will use those anyway at least every 10 minutes.

EDIT: added in modified load allocation
Title: Re: StarWars: Approaching Impact
Post by: StevenO on April 19, 2021, 12:48:47 pm
When it comes to allocations there is a "fixed unit size" such that "food" would be loaded 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 tons per truck.  Parts are even numbers, weapons are a factor of 10.  While it doesn't weight nearly that much the space to park a speeder bike is 2 tons.

PS.  I'm looking at speeder bike space as a way to haul an extra bike.  If you ride it then it may not be needed.

The "Spare Parts" aren't "filler" so much as "parts that don't fit into the food-weapon-critical medical" categories.  These are the things you'd need to get something operational again that the people of Impact may not be able to reproduce for various reasons.  If my math was right there should be 200 tons of space available (25/truck x 8 trunks) and 180 tons of "requested" goods plus some mission supplies.  As with many "orders" getting more isn't always better but even if the full order doesn't show getting some can often be better than getting nothing.

"We got the watch setup. Nice. No need to worry about that", he mutters to himself.

"I'll be downstairs if anyone needs me" he says to the team before leaving.

He goes to pick up his stuff and supervise the loading of the trucks. As nobody expressed any opinions, he decides to order the split of the cargo.

He takes the time to inspect his new equipment, making sure everything is functional and fully charged. He loads the grenade launcher with 4 grenades (Frag/Stun/Frag/Frag). He takes the time to mount the grenade launcher underneath the barrel of his rifle.
He also takes the time to program his earbud comlink to react when he touches it or double-clicks his tongue.
"Bor to team. Comlink check."

He walks to the nearest crew member :
"Hey you. What's your name ? I need you to help organize the loading of the trucks." He proceeds to explain him how to split the load between the trucks. "We are not leaving before tomorrow but I want the loading to start now. And make sure there is no way to identify what is in what truck !"

Assuming the loading starts, he then goes to the workshop to try to assemble 5 hand-crafted grenades from spare parts. [Don't think I need a check for that]

He stays with the loading team for the rest of the day (8hrs).

Eri'anya nods as the doctor concludes his briefing.  Umwawa often left her to manage theses tasks, though she'd readily admit that she enjoyed working with groups to take advantage of their insights for operations.

She doesn't feel the need to say much.  The crew is trained and professional, knowing what needed to be done.  Instead, since she has some time before anything else happens, she takes the time to read up on the news reports and other media outlets surrounding Impact, hoping to glean what information she can.  She didn't need rest the way the others did, so she could take the watch at any time.

"Acceptable. And with this, even better." he adds, picking the targetting scope. Then he checks the fire blade, dons the utility belt and picks up the poncho, comlink, and upgrade parts for the armor.
"Guess I know what I´ll be doing for the next hour or two.". Contentment almost radiates from the mandalorian, as he is looking forward to tinker with weapons and armor.

You can probably come back in the morning and catch a little sleep before leaving.  Hopefully things are ready to go before then and are just finishing up.  Better to be ready early than push it at the last moment.  You shouldn't need to drive all day and can probably catch some sleep on the trail.

The doctor also gives the description of the contact at the gates who'll let you out without much trouble; this person is familiar to both Eri and Sin.  If you want to add some false documents you should be able to spend some time creating them in the office.  Hopefully it doesn't come to this but there are a couple explosive charges in the box that might be used to get out although that'll likely take care of trying to avoid attention granted you'd probably have that if it becomes required.

Sin have been listening patiently, but as the doctor is about to go she asks some final questions:
"Before you go doctor, is there anything else you need me to do? Otherwise I can find an elevated spot and send a warning if there is any imperials showing up unexpectedly. But that means that I will be very tired when we are supposed to leave. I could go back out into the city and see if I can pick something up, but that could also draw attention.

Another thing, who is it that will let us out of the city, and how? Do we have some false transport documents or is it entirely based on stealth? I just don't want any lose ends."

With no additional questions Umwawa makes to take his leave.  If you need to contact me there is a pocket scrambler in the chest and I have it's match but if we can keep radio silence we can perhaps avoid showing what we're up to.  Eri is in charge for now and I believe the vehicles all have the rendezvous location where you can meet up with the Freerunner and our scouting support.  I figure you'll bring the Arrow and then some of you can operate the Freerunner after meeting up; this means you don't need to bring those bikes but we'll leave them just in case.

Bor listens to all the conversation. Once they are over :

"Sin is getting what she needs. I think we should all do the same and gather our... heavier equipment now. We aren't leaving the premises and we will start moving around some expensive cargo. Better safe than sorry. Speaking of which, I'll keep the thermal detonator with me : I'll try to wipe the comouter memory but if I fail, I will destroy it."

"Does any one of you want a technical modification on some piece of equipment ? Do you think any vehicle should get a modification ? I can look around to see if I can find any crafting components."

"My proposal is to split the cargo between all the trucks, leaving the less important stuff in the first and last trucks in case we fall into an ambush or need to leave a truck behind. I would concentrate the medical loads in only two trucks. We should make sure nothing could help identifying what is in each container. Now, in case we experience mechanical faillure, we should try to pack some spare parts - engines, transmission, tires. If a bike breaks down, I guess we'll need to load it on a truck or leave it.
We should also bring some extra food and drink. "

"What do you all think ?"

After his speech, Bor takes the time to discuss it (if relevant).
If he has the opportunity to discuss with Dirk : "You seem really good at judging people. Have you noticed anyone suspect ? Or have you identified anyone who we could rely on in case of trouble ?"

Then, before doing anything else, he goes back to the hangar to pick up his "requisition".

Eri dear, go see him if you must but the ISB is suspicious of everything.  If you blow him off it probably wouldn't be the first time he's had that happen.  I'll trust your judgment but for operational security it may be better if we try to keep the group here tonight.  I heard there's a new entertainment venue opening tonight and think some of the crew was hoping to go see it; not sure what kind of crowd it might be expecting but mixing Imperials and locals could be problematic.  If you talked with him on the ride in I'm not entirely sure what else he might have to say.

Nominally, I'll be leaving Eri'anya in charge although the people I have gathered to operate the trucks are likely to follow any direction given with conviction.  I'll be leaving the manifest of what is where and how much of is requested; there is a bit of overflow but there will also be a some convoy supplies that will need to come and you may want redundancy in them in case you happen to lose some.

Oh yes, I almost forgot but I have a crate waiting downstairs that I believe has most of the additional equipment you were looking for.  Here's the code to get in although you'll need to sort out who gets what.  I may say that a lot of it isn't looked at kindly outside the walls so keep that in mind if you want to go exploring.  I know Shev has some upgrade components in there which will need to be installed; there is workshop space down on the floor for you to do that as well as space for Bor to "make improvements" which I hear he's good at.  As for the computer system, you can purge it however you like but the thermal detonator is here in case of emergencies as it could take a few minutes to clear and shred the system.

It appears the disease attacks various near human species which make up the majority of this planet's and Impact's population.  It doesn't affect creatures such as myself and it's very unlikely to affect a Feeorin anatomy either.  Sin and some of my other agents have gotten the vaccination already; there are no side affects that have been discovered and a few doses have managed to get smuggled into Impact already to help prepare for the much larger shipment we'll be bringing.

I know it may be a lot of material although we don't need to take the full 200 tons by filling each truck to the max.  Here's a datapad saying how much of what is desired although there is some space for extra.  While you all don't need to be helping with the loading someone should help with supervision and maybe lend a hand.  I figure that just throwing it all into to one truck until it's full then moving to the next would take about 8 hours.  Doing some sorting and distribution will take a little more time and there I'm thinking 10 hours depending how much care is taken.  I'd encourage you to get the trucks loaded and then get some rest figuring to finish up anything else tomorrow morning before leaving but maybe you have some other plans?

As for the trip you should know the bikes and Arrow can only go a day before then need attention while the Freerunner and Trucks can last a week.  This is part of the "convoy supplies" and while you need to plan to take a minimum you may want to take reserves.  When it comes to parts there are various "spare parts" that are intended for delivery to Impact but before you go you should have access to parts if you want to make modifications.

"Are we planning on transporting 200 tons of material ? How long would it take to load the trucks in both configuration (spreading / not spreading the load) ? Any way to speed that up ? You mention refueling : any spare parts we could bring with us ? Should we expect your guys to fight in case we face trouble ?"

As you enter the office you see screens the wall showing security feeds.  There is also a table in the room with what appears to be an area map on it.  As you enter Dr. Umwawa looks up from something on his desk, which has a thermal detonator sitting on it, and greets you.  Welcome gentlemen and than you for coming to answer our need, I trust these two ladies haven't been too hard on you.  I hope your travel here wasn't too eventful although I understand the Empire has taken to stopping incoming ships which they hadn't been doing.  Unless anyone has something to say now I'll get on with the briefing.

Ok, here is Impact surrounded by a mountainous ring that hinders most ground transit.  Now the side closest to us is where there is a break in the ring and thus the main route in and out; it is also the area with the highest concentration of Imperial forces laying siege to that region a thus it'll be next to impossible to get through.  There is however a little known pass on the other side of the ring here which is going to be out target for getting into Impacts immediate area.  While most traffic from here to Impact will run the solid ground to the main entry point we will instead go across the sand sea that gets very close to this space port, and then more desert and the great gash [a long, deep canyon which has few crossing points for anything less than an airspeeder]  to go around the enemy positions and get to that pass.  After two days we will hit more temperate climate as we get closer to the mountain  travelling through brushland and forest before making our way through the mountains and then across the plains to reach the city of Impact.

While we may be able to travel at night through the forest and mountain we will need to cross the sands and desert during the day.  As you may have seen on your way in during the day starship sensors are mostly blinded by the sands but when things cool off at night those ships in orbit will have no trouble finding us and likely will send in a bomber or worse to investigate.  Sadly, just how viscous the evening patrols would be is something that was learned the hard way.  While the trucks have the range to make the trip without stopping most of our escort and support vehicles don't have that much duration so we'd need to stop to replenish them anyway.  You may have heard rumors of a Krayt Dragon roaming the sands but I haven't seen any proof of that; the Imperials generally don't send ground patrols out that far but there are primitive nomads, sand people if you will, out there and occasionally some locals will be joy riding out there.  I'm not sure what to expect the closer we get before getting through the mountains as that area hasn't really been explored or scanned nearly as well.

Logistically I've got 20 tons worth of medical supplies that we need to get through to Impact.  I know I've got eight 25ton trucks out there so you may wonder "why so many when it just takes one?" but that's because we'll also be bringing weapons, food stuffs, and just miscellaneous spare parts that they've been having a hard time constructing and which have been affect by the disease.  We've also got a few pallets of what are luxury items in a warzone but which might help morale in Impact.  The medical supplies are of the utmost importance but getting sufficient quantities of the others through is also important.  More trucks means more ways to spread the load if desired so that if we lose one truck there is enough on the others to make it; of course loading them that way will take a little more time than just filling them with one type of material if you're sure they'll all make it through.  I will leave the specifics of what goes on what truck for you but I'll tell you that all those people you see down there are normal people who have the basic operational skills but not much beyond that.

For convoy defenses and security you'll have that paramilitary speeder you see down on the main floor.  I've also got a Freerunner heavy speeder located outside of the port which I'll meet you with after you get out of the town tomorrow; bringing that here would bring too much attention and too many questions.  For support I have a half dozen of my people that will be taking speeder bikes in pairs to scout the terrain in front of us to hopefully locate any potential problems before they can find the convoy; not being seen is generally better than getting into fights and a couple speeder bikes don't attract nearly as much attention as nearly a dozen big speeders would.

Now for departure I have people who will be working the gate starting around high sun tomorrow.  Going then should get you out of town without raising any alarms.  Once you get outside here is the rendezvous point where you will meet up with the Freerunner and our scout bikes.  I'll leave it to you to determine basic driving formations and order so you can best defend the convoy.  Before you leave the warehouse here you should shred the computer system and blow it, and everything else in the office up, with the thermal detonator there if needed; wouldn't want the empire poking around here later to see what they can learn.

You should have about 24 hours to make preparations to depart when you can get out of the gates without hassle.  I strongly encourage getting some sleep before you leave which you could do in here or in the makeshift camp I've got in the corner down there.  After we're done here I'll be going with the speeder you just brought back to our staging area outside the city to make sure the tank and scouts are read for tomorrow.  If you get a plan figured out Sin, you probably should go back to monitoring Imperial activity, we're so close now we don't want them causing any surprises at this stage.

Now are there any question I can answer before I depart?  Oh, and if you'd like I could vaccinate you humans against the disease now before I go.

As you start to get out of the speeder and get a sense of your surroundings a tall alien appears on the second level.  It clears its throats to get everyone's attention and when the murmur dies down he begins.

Welcome to you all.  I know some have travelled far to get here but now I feel I can reveal our mission to you all.  As many of you know the Imperial assault on Impact has lightened up the past month or so and turned into little more than a holding action.  I know many of you have friends and family in that region and saw that reduction in Imperial activity as a promising sign that the invaders could soon be repelled.  Unfortunately that is not the situation as it far more dire than many of you know.

That seems to get the attention of many of those gathered who now look up with more questions on their faces.

What we may have initially thought were the first steps in a withdrawal and ending of the siege were actually a sign of a cruel new tactics on the part of the invaders.  As the Empire started pulling back from heavy fighting a new disease started showing up in the population of Impact.  At first it didn't seem so bad but over those first few weeks it emerged that this disease was going to cause problems as it turns out to have a long dormant period during which is can still be spread before its effects start to show.  While under siege, Impact has had to endure a lot but this was something different that turned many of its strengths to weakness as it helped spread the disease which has been weakening the defense and also has begun to take lives.  While it could be seen as coincidence the Empire pulling back to avoid exposing troops to a disease it has caused is something that fits in its playbook.

But don't despair, we have discovered a treatment and a vaccine that is highly effective against the disease.  I have already sent an agent ahead to lay the ground work for them to receive this vaccine but while not as tight as before Impact is still a city under siege.  With a no fly zone around Impact flying in this cure would be exceedingly dangerous and I have word that the Empire has stepped up operations to ensure that no help from from the outside can even reach this world.  These trucks are what what we will be using to deliver Impact the medicine it needs so badly as well as other supplies needed but which they can not produce at this time.  I certainly do NOT intend to lead you to our deaths so there is a security plan and details of that will be given out as needed but by this time tomorrow I hope we can be making our way to Impact.  Until then we will need to get these trucks loaded and we have set up a camp to get some rest in before we head out tomorrow for what could be a long journey as we try to avoid any Imperial conflicts that will jeopardize our mission of rescuing the your friends and families and everyone else who is in Impact.

Now I will need to confer with my newly arrived security team and then make final arrangements with additional support beyond the gate that we can't bringing into this city.  Drive safely but decisively and remember we are doing to save lives.  May the Force be with you all.

Some in the crowd seem ready to cheer at Umwawa Raada's inspiring words.  Looking over the crowd the Ithorian gives a slight nod to Eri'anya and Sin before giving a gesture indicating to follow after which he resigns through the door he had come out of such a short time ago.

"I am surprised though, as they seem to be stock. No obvious sign of modification. Makes me wonder if these guys know what to do with vehicles... If we had the time, we could remove some useless weight here and there", he says showing some aesthetic parts, "and maybe protect the engine and add some dust filter on the intakes. And a cup holder."

Shev nods to Sin and takes over the driving when Eri gets on board. With the girls giving directions and Bor finding no trackers, he pulls the car to the base. When he gets out of the speeder, he looks around, catching the atmosphere and emotions. He shifts a bit uneasily. If someone comments on this, he shrugs. "Many enthusiastic amateurs here. Unreliable under pressure. Hope we leave the worst behind when we hit the wastes."

After that, he wanders to the trucks and speeders, sizing them up and looking what condition they are in. He doesn´t pay much attention to the people milling around, though he doesn´t interfere with their duties.

Bor finding nothing with the sensor leads you to believe you are clear of any pursuit and approach the main operating base.

Quote
Following directions from Sin you drive by a large white building with a small door which you've already have gone by once already.  This time by the gate is open into the yard between the building and the next so you turn into it and see a large door into the building is also open.  Looking to the left before you enter the door you see a stair leading up to a loading dock with a smaller door that is still large enough to move goods through.

Passing through the large door you see what appears to be a lightweight wall before you screening your view further into the building.  To the left the platform for the outside extends into a staging area on the inside with both a ramp and a small stair leading up to that level.  Sweeping your view around you can see a number of containers which seem to be stacked three high or more in some places.  In the far right corner you see what appears to be a stack of rooms and there are catwalks around the walls at two places above the main floor.  It seems there are a couple humanoids patrolling those walkways that could be carrying rifles of some sort.

Once in the door you turn right along wall before rounding the wall covering your view of the interior.  Now that you peer behind the screen you can see at least half a dozen AA-5 Speeder Trucks staged on the floor and probably two dozen people milling around as if expecting something.  Ahead you see a armed Arrow-23 and a couple of speed or swoop bikes parked along the wall.

Pivoting in front of the other speeder before setting down.  You emerge from the speeder to a murmur with a scent of worry, fear, anticipation, and hope in the air.  You can feel that something is going to happen here at some point.

"Would you be so kind to turn on the A/C please ?" he asks, smiling at Dredge.

Noticing that the entire crew gets busy looking for a "tail", he takes his datapad and starts recording their route.

When Sin turns to Dirk and him, he looks up to her : "Name's Bor. I would be the one who makes sure we don't leave any place without... a surprise."
"And right now, I'd be your man", he adds when he sees the scanner. "May I ?", he asks before taking the scanner.

"– Sure thing sweetheart, you do say the nicest things! I'm sure neither of us want to get burned."

As Eri’anya hurries of to meet the captain and hand of the card with a tracker, Sin quickly remove the silver cover that have kept the speeder reasonably cool for the last few hours. She reverse the speeder a few meters to the alley so that the rest of the crew can get onboard without too much trouble or drawing attention. Then she unlocks the back door facing the alley so that the rest of the crew can get in.

When everyone is onboard, she slowly (not too slowly) and securely drives the speeder along the road, making two left turns and then two right turns so that any pursuer will be easy to spot, at least if they follow this slightly erratic patern around the two nearest blocks. She tries to time this so that no other speeder is behind them when they stop in a back alley behind the starport. She waits there a few minutes for Eri’anya to catches up to them.

"It´s just a tracker, nothing more. Right now, it´s better cover to leave it intact than disable it. Let´s move before the sun gets you!"

After being told that the card only track location, she calms down a bit. But Sin is still on edge.

"Get that thing away from me! I have spent all day to make sure you are not followed and you bring a beacon? If you get that back to the ship, I will load everyone else into the speeder. We pick you up on the road behind the space port in 20 minutes. Is that enough time Eri'anya?"

Sin starts to walk slowly into the alley and tries to lead the others along.

"This is a great place to hide, but we should not be standing around for long."

It was already determined that the card doesn't provide anything more than location and even then it's not a long range tracker although in a settlement this size keeping track of it may not be too difficult if a few regional detectors could put it in an area before more accurate locators came in.

At the mention of ISB the pale lady starts waiving her hands in the air and makes a gesture across her mouth with her hand and rolling her eyes. Whatever it means she's not happy!

Raising her voice slightly, trying to cut Eri'anya off:
"YES, that would be a sin to miss! Those agent types are so dreamy, the cold eyes and hot muscles. Aren't you a lucky girl!"

While talking she points to the card and to her ear cupping her hand around the ear. Then makes a spinning motion with one hand holding out just one finger. At the same time she picks up a security kit from a pocket inside the robe with the other hand, plugging something into her ear and scanning the card.

Making large eyes and with an obvious fake smile:
"Tell me all about dream-boy...!

Upon seeing the alien woman, Eri'anya seems to relax a it. "Sin."  She inclines her head.  "Sorry about the delay.  There were some . . minor complications."  She joins the other woman in the shadows of the alley, holding up her tracking card.  "Before we hit the warehouse, we need to stop at one of the local hotels and rent a room for this while we conduct our business.  One of the local ISB agents thinks he's my type and, while I do want to see if I can lure more information out of him, I don't think he needs to know all of our secrets just yet"

There is a lean woman standing about two meters from Dredge. Close enough that she can speak with a low voice and still be clearly heard. She is very pale and and with a slight bluish tint to her skin. Her clothes are in soft pastel colors, with a lightly prune colored dress under a soft yellow cloak.

"I was supposed to meet you in the cantina, but I want you off the streets post haste."

A streak of white hair can be seen under the hood of the cloak and her pale blue eyes are reveled as she is holding her sunglasses in her left hand. She clearly avoid looking in the direction of the sun.

"You are late you know. The speeder is parked on the next street. The Doctor sent me."

She steps into the shadow of alley and almost disappear as she steps out of the bright light. Clearly she is trying to avoid any more exposure to whomever may be looking. She turns and looks behind her, stretching out her open hand.

"Come, you are not invisible my blue friend! The others can come as well, or go around the building. Either way you should all come with me in the speeder. This is not the time for introductions."

She stops and looks more relaxed now that she is back in the shadows. Her arm still partly outstretch and her hand open.

As you make your way into the city, you can't help feeling like Dredge is on to something. Something cold to quench your thirst starts to feel like a high priority. That's when you see it, these is a cantina just a block further down the street to your right. It looks almost respectable, in that slightly depressive air of an imperial city. Even better, it's open. It's the smell of old grease and the imperial speeder parked outside that put you off.

"Not that blue isn't my favorite color, but you tend to stand out in a crowd!" It's a soft slightly cloaked female voice, coming from behind Dredge, and there was none there five seconds ago.

"Take a left into that alley, I hope the others will follow." The voice is still soft and non-threatening, but you can sense a bit of urgency.

Having discovered a couple listening devices on the ship you quietly notify the captain of them as a warning and so that they could be removed more "casually" later.  You also take that opportunity to leave Lt. Marc's calling card with the ship captain as he's not going too far and can keep it "active" as needed; staying with your ship happens all the time granted the Roundup may be here a bit longer than it originally hoped for so maybe the crew will try to find better accommodations.  While you may be ditching active surveillance directly tied to you this is an Imperial controlled settlement.

Travelling light the group doesn't have its own surveillance equipment to use outside of setting up some backdoors into the sensors that watch the ship.  The cargo onboard that is destined for your employer isn't readily identifiable; hidden in plain sight is an idea that comes to mind.  Just another container with normal stuff in a sea of other containers containing normal stuff.

Eri'anya should note that the group's arrival is a bit behind schedule and that they should be expecting to meet with another involved in the mission to take them all to the local base of operations.  Unless anyone has ANYTHING else they believe needs to be done you gather your limited equipment and begin to leave the area not entirely sure who you're supposed to be meeting here or what you might be walking into...

Although he wasn't in there long you find one more listening device in the crew lounge area but find nothing in engineering.  The devices discovered appear to be low powered and thus relatively short ranged although there is a good chance there many ways it could be received not that the ship has landed.

Bringing the surveillance detector to check the Marc's card finds it's giving off a tracking signal although it certainly appears to be what it is supposed to be.  Of course what better way to keep tabs on someone's location than to actually hand them the tracking device assuming they'll want, and hang on to, it.  MAYBE this is just so he'll know where to find you if you call for a meeting like you may put a tracker on a child to keep it from getting lost.

While Dirk's pocket scrambler would be good for any communications device, if there's one on the other end to decode it, it doesn't do a lot to mask face to face communications.

Now you've spent a little longer retracing your steps so you should keep whomever waiting too much longer but what do you wish to do with what you've discovered?

During his time onboard Lt. Marc was under pretty constant supervision but over the course of his duties/activities had access to large portions of the ship.  He was brought to the bridge and given some access from there.  He would have also been in engineering to check with the other techs.  And finally he would have had access to cargo and crew information and some cargo to verify matching records.

Now if Marc was looking for information that he wasn't already given access to where would that information be most likely to slip?

As for the Lt. he was asking some questions that would be outside the norms for getting the work done but certainly could come up as part of friendly conversation.

As for Bor's reviews it appears there are no alterations to the computer systems and the Lt's access was generally limited although he did need access to a bit of "sensitive" information as part of his inspections; the incoming inspection group would get all the same access.  The areas of most interest would of course be the bridge and engineering.

One might also wonder about his interactions with Eri'anya although it does seem she was doing "most of the work" there.  She might have even peeked his interest as he did give her a card with contact information to a possibly evening activity.

Spoiler: game speak (hover to show)

Now attempts by Shev and Dirk to locate a "spy device"  turns up something on the bridge that was extremely well placed.  Now you shouldn't spend too much time searching but is there anywhere else there may be a spy device you're going to look for?  You also may wonder "what did we say when we were one the bridge but the Lt. wasn't there?"

While reaching out in the immediate area with the Force Dirk does feel the presence of another Force User.

Looking at the inspector, he says in a louder voice, "Looks like we're in capable hands.  I want to make sure I didn't forget any personal effects...", nods and boards the ship once again.

Dirk pauses once on board and considers what they've got time for.  Eyes closed he feels the Force flow through him and the ship - anything amiss?  'I need more eyes', Dirk thought to himself.

Dirk walked on the bridge.

"Captain, if you're willing could I talk to the crew about the state of the ship and cargo, just one last readiness check before the inspection and off-loading begins?  We might want someone to scan the cargo holds for trackers and communications devices.  Our helpful Lt Marc is an ISB agent."

Spoiler: Final Impressions (hover to show)

As you're all preparing to leave most of you are relatively content with Lt. Marc even as most of you also tried to avoid contact with him.  Dirk's keen senses realize that while Marc's friendliness seems genuine there may be a bit more too him.  Repeated observation has allowed Dirk to notice that Marc seems to be packing a weapon of some sort which he's never pointed out.  Is it possible he's hiding more?

Before departing Lt. Marc approaches Eri'anya and hands her a card:  Here you are my dear.  This card contains my number should you wish for me to send a speeder to pick up you and I guess a couple of your friends for a night out in this desolate place.  After waiting for a reply and saying farewell to the rest of the upstanding citizens on the crew he heads off the ship in front of you.  "Official business and all."  As Lt. Marc is leaving you also see what you assume to be the standard "greeting party" coming toward the ship although seeing the Lt. the leader of that group addresses the other Imperial loudly enough that you can hear some of the conversation.  You are also greeted with an oppressive wave of heat as it may be nearing mid day here.

Ah, AGENT Marc!  I wasn't told that you would be arriving aboard this ship.  How goes the Rebel hunting?  Sniff out any more problems before the dirt makes it planetside?  I know there's more pressure on us now to catch any smugglers but you know this ship is LATE and has high priority cargo on it.

No rebels this time inspector although if you people did a better job down here I wouldn't need to be here trying to figure out your mess.  I also do know that this ship has some expected cargo on it.  That is why I started doing YOUR JOB while we are the way in.  It shouldn't take you too long to fill in the last few blanks and dot the Is and cross the Ts and get things off in a timely manner.  I'd hate to hear about delays caused by your team incompetence.

With that you see Lt. Marc hand a datapad over to the inspection team before storming out.  Now out of my way, I've got work to get done before tonight.

Such friendly people you meet when hauling cargo.  Captain Jack comments as he gives a slight signal to Eri'anya who recognizes the lead inspector as one of those people who occasionally lets things slide through customs.

With the Lt. gone the inspection Team approaches the RoundupAG.  I am Inspector Olsen and am here to ensure you are in compliance with Imperial and planetary regulations.  We have been informed of the situation surrounding your arrival in system and are sorry about that although that does not affect how we do our jobs.  Agent Marc however has taken it upon himself to give us a good start on the process.  It seems he has had access to large portions of the ship so most of this should go quickly.  It seems he has also run the checks needed to allow you to leave the ship so you may depart when ever you are ready.

Inspector Olsen seems a bit rattled and like he may have more to worry about or maybe say.  He certainly seems surprise to see Marc get off the ship.

Spoiler: pause (hover to show)

Cut Scene - Being a shadow on the wall it seems the people you were supposed to be picking up are going to be late.  More time in this heat isn't what you were hoping for although it does give you time to make more observations.  One observation you were NOT expecting to see is what is clearly an agent of the Empire coming off of the Roundup.  You wonder what it learned, may have learned or did while onboard.  You know the inspector should let your passengers through without much hassle, credits can do that, but what else might that group have picked up?

The mandalorian then looks for Eri, but when he sees her with lt. Marc, he pauses for a second, and only nods at her. After that, he looks up Dirk, and approaches when no imperial is around. "Know where to find that hammerhead doc? Try to get it from Goldy, without the imp loverboy knowing."

With no more distraction and a little bit of a help you make decent time to the planet although you are approached by several patrols along the way.  The planet almost looks like eyeball except it's not your typical tidally locked planet.  The center of the eye appears to be a mountain ring surrounded by green while it seems the rest of the planet is mostly blinding.  You're a few hours late as you begin your approach.  With Bor at the controls you should have no trouble getting this thing down on the city/spaceport which is some distance from the center of the eye which also appears to be the main focus of military activity.

Coming in over the city it's mostly low building.  It seems most structures have energy collectors on their roof tops.  As far as spaceports go this isn't all that much with basic controls although you're sure the VSD in orbit may have override control; it's a standard class port at best.  After a bit you are down.

Dredge should know he has little chance of moving such a container by hand.

Looking at Eri'anya the Lt. says, "A Feeroin you say, can't say I've ever seen one.  You say they're strong, that may be but perhaps not too bright as containers like these are things even a load lifter could have trouble with.  Any more odd alien species onboard that I should be aware of.

Now you aren't trying to bribe an Imperial Official are you?  Of course inventories on ships like normally have some allowances and if a bottle or two of fine liquid encouragement happen to end up where they shouldn't that's expected.  As for anything else I'm on duty although maybe later... Well you soon make contact with the small Citadel Cruiser which locks on with it's tractor beam and adds it's engine power to the Roundup's.  The increase isn't much but on a ship this slow it doesn't take much for a large increase in speed.  With the arrival of the Citadel, which was also docking a pair of TIEs, the Imperial techs depart to the Devastator which then leaves with Alpha flight to return to the ambush zone.

With no objections to his presence Lt. Marc remains on board and begins the customs process to minimize any delays in unloading.  Getting into the cargo hold he catches sight of Dredge and asks his escort:  What is that and why is it here in the cargo hold?

Eri'anya giggles over the lieutenant's invitation.  What better way to gather information than to be a the side of a man who knew something?  She softly hits him on the arm and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear.  "You're so funny!  And so unlike the other men in my life!"  She smiles coyly.  "I think I can arrange a leave from my duties to attend your party . . . and maybe more."  She saucily arches her eyebrow.

"But business before pleasure, I think.  Truly, if you can arrange a mechanic team, it would be wonderful.  Most people don't realize what it takes to maintain a freighter this size, and that's without the extra circumstances such as this infernal rebel activity.  I hope your work goes quickly and smoothly so that this nonsense comes to an end."

Spoiler: Rolls for Dirk (hover to show)

The Lt. responds well to his greetings and seems to take a more friendly stance with the exotic woman and very stately gentleman who welcome him.  It seems he's very willing to tell you all about the state of things on the planet although you sense some make take a bit of lubrication to flow more easily.

Actions on the surface appear to be yielding results.  The main city, Impact, hasn't been responding as actively lately although I've heard our lines have been told not to press in yet.  Rumor is the city has some sort of disease running through it and we don't want our good men to get it.  Their loss is our gain however so now we're working extra hard to keep any rebels from coming to help the city.  That's why you were stopped early but you're no rebels.

In more exciting news I believe there was supposed to be a new club opening tonight to help boost morale.  I even think some of it's stock is supposed to be on this ship which should move it to the front of the line when it comes to unloading.  Now that I'm here I can even start going through the customs process to minimize any delays on the ground.  I don't believe I'm needed back at the interdiction point today so if I can ride in with you I'm sure we can speed things up.  Besides that, I wouldn't want to miss the opening although having a date could really boost my standing to some of the men.  ;)

I sure hope you don't plan on leaving the city.  Although I haven't seen any reports about it some have mentioned a noble bringing a Krayt Dragon or some other desert monster to the planet to hunt for fun; if true I'd hate to run into one of those beast outside the city in anything less than a JUG.

Getting a report from the Techs it certainly appears that the damage to your hyperdrive is likely caused but uncalled for military action.  I believe we can get the Empire to cover repairs.  Normally it'll take a few weeks for the parts to come in but I know there happens to be the parts you need on world and will see if I can get them released to you sooner.  As for the repair time it can often take a bit to get and facilities to help with the repairs.  As Mr. Templar points out in the codes a ship like this actually should be given priorities right behind official ships due to it's economic importance; it may take a few days to get a full work crew available but I believe you can get enough help to start working on the replacement as soon as it comes in.

Is there something else I'm missing?

For the most part none of you have noticed anything off about these Imperial personnel.  The techs seem competent at their job and Lt. Marc seems  to be a bit more chipper than when he came onboard although he seems to have a bit more expertise than your typical experts.

As your sensor reading come back it's looking like there may be an entire Imperial Heavy Squadron in the system.  Seems to be one Victory Class Destroy in orbit near the large circular region on the planet and another VSD in orbit plus a few more heavy capital ships and a large number of smaller ships.  Perhaps a sneak attack from a fleet could get in but smaller and fewer ships seem to have little chance at getting through.  A direct approach from space to reach Impact.  As for the planet itself you can get surface readings near the circular area of impact but the rest of planet under direct sunlight is next to impossible to get readings on especially with this ship's sensors.

"Good to have you onboard Lt," Dirk nodded to Marc.  "We were really worried there for a minute.  We're also concerned about all the talk concerning these Rebels.  Do you really think they'd be able to attack us?  But I agree, we'd best start our approach at sub-light.  No need to delay our shipment.  Sounds like our cargo is needed by those planet-side."  Dirk said in a re-assuring voice, reaching out a bit through the Force to calm the mind of the Lt and put him at ease.  He might get talkative and reveal something useful.  Or at the very least be helpful in moving them along.

"That explains your high guy´s offer to tow us and help with filing a claim." He shrugs. "Bigwigs on both sides flex muscles and it´s us regulars who take the mess. As you're discussing specifics the small Imperial Shuttle docks with one of the ship's airlocks.  Without any resistance three Imperial technical personal come on board after which the shuttle returns to the cruiser it came from.  One introduces himself as Lt. Marc and and the others as Lyn and Yang.  I'll need to see the ships data reports and if you'd like to file a claim against the Navy we can start that process depending on what we find.  While I'm doing that if someone can show the others to your problem.  If you believe the sublights are fine we can get underway; if needed I can have a Citadel come to give you a tow and replace the Decimator in our escort.

The Imperials appear to be wearing padded flight suits with utility belts.  They have with them a portable computer, presumably for diagnostics, and have a data pad for bureaucratic work.  The seem to be Indifferent to the group as they are just doing their job.

Lost your hyperdrive you say?  I guess we can send over a couple techs to take a look but there's not much to do for that out here.  If your sublights are good you should be able to get it fixed dirtside.  We aren't a towing service although you might find someone who'd help you through sublight.

When the techs arrive proceed on the provided course with your escort.  When they are finished you can link up with the Decimator and they'll take them off your hands.

Be careful, we anticipate a rebel response to a situation they are experiencing on the surface.  They may not target you in an attack but you could still be an opportune attack or get caught in crossfire.

Out.

With that you see a small shuttle leave the hanger of one of the cruisers and head your way.

No boarding party yet big guy; just a very rude early hyperspace exit.  We've got the Imperials asking if we require assistance which could have them send some people over.  You might handle a boarding party but we're still a long ways out and even those fighters are likely to mess us up.

It seems we've blown the hyperdrive but at this point I'm not sure what they can do about except verify that it's blown.  Maybe they'll provide some compensation dirtside to get it repaired but we're talking about military bureaucrats although they shouldn't need to come onboard now to do that.  As Eri'anya says we don't have anything to hide except may maybe him and a couple sidearms but who knows if they try to jam us up.

We should still make it planet side within the day even if we're now a little late; a tow might help that but we'll probably have to meet or wait for that.

Engineering:  Do you have an opinion on if having the Empire send assistance or not would do any good?

Dirk, I hear you've got a way with words if you want to speak with them; you may smooth things over better than I would after messing with the ship.

Despite Shev's efforts, which the crew consoles are at least as well as they would have done, it seems the sudden end to the hyperspace trip so close to the intended destination has burned out the hyperdrive. It is going to need a major overhaul, rebuild, or maybe even replacement before the ship will make another jump.  Ideally this work is done at a shipyard but it can certainly be done is less well equipped locations.  At least parts for a CEC hyperdrive aren't so hard to come by.

After what seems like forever your coms crack back to life:  Roundup AG, your identity is confirmed and scans reveal no anomalies.  You are a little early; do you require assistance?  If not you will be transmitted a flight path momentarily.  Flight Alpha and VT-49 CB18 will provide escort; do not deviate from your course.

Further sensor readings show an Immobilizer and Strike class cruisers almost on top of you.  The smaller ships are TIE Fighters while a few VT-49 Decimators are also close by.  There are also many more distant contacts.

You have a hyperdrive that has effectively been destroyed.  Dirk's bureaucratic knowledge lets him know that damage should be reported quickly if you expect the government to take any responsibility for damage but accepting immediate assistance is inviting a boarding party onboard.  How does the ship wish to reply when asked if it requires assistance?

The crew at engineering will report to Shev that they subspace engines appear fine but the hyperdrive hasn't responded well to suddenly be called to pull the ship out of hyperspace early.  It's over compensating and heating up rapidly with a high risk of burning out.  This is why a backup hyperdrive is often a good idea as it can still pull a ship out of hyperspace without using the main drive.

GET THAT HYPERDRIVE SHUT DOWN BEFORE IT DOES SOMETHING WE AL REGRET!

Bor trusts the information that there shouldn't be a mass shadow in their path.  Perhaps pirates put something in the way but he has heard of a technology that can replicate Mass Shadows and mess up hyperspace travel.  Not surprisingly the sensor results Eri gets can't make sense of the Mass Shadow as this isn't even a combat ship much less a research ship.  This the inspiration from Dirk Bor has the ship as ready as could be expected for emergence from Hyperspace.

With that the ship lurches out of hyperspace suddenly tossing Dredge from his bunk although Bor does a great job keeping the ship under control.  They hyperdrive wasn't expecting that so close to exit and may need immediate attention to avoid damage.  Before your sensors get realigned the com channel opened by Eri'anya has a voice come over.

We're headed toward a secured world.  Last check the Empire controlled the space around the planet and the plan was to jump in far enough out the we don't spook them.  When we get there it's "follow instructions" and if there's trouble the standard procedure is to call for help and try to hold out until it arrives or a new jump can be calculated.  As far as evasive action is concerned we're pretty much as slow and lumbering as they come; here we use that non-threatening nature to sneak by.

I see the Feeorin has decided to catch a bit more rest.  Not that it bothers me.

(Assuming Captain Jack is in the cockpit when he arrives) : "Captain", he says nodding his head in his direction, "I'll take the pilot seat offer."

He sits in the pilot seat and gives a tap on the co-pilot shoulder : "Okay _insert co-pilot's name_, let's make it quick and smooth", he says with a smile.
Setting his sit to his morphology and looking at the co-pilot : "Can you give me the system status and run me through the out-of-hyperspace procedure ? What is the vector to Dramadas once we are back to real-space ? Any hazard expected ? If things go south when we exit hyperspace, do we have an emergency evasion pattern ?"

Once this is done, if asked : "Helmstation ready."

But I didn´t want to mess it up more than it is - I use it as close range weapon, anyway. Had to leave my rifle back. Gets too much attention." Things seem to be going as well as expected.  The trip through hyperspace is usually the boring part of the job but also a bit stressful because if something goes wrong there's not much time to fix it.  The rest of the crew appreciates the help with their work load.

Now unless someone else has something they want to specify they are doing over the couple days of this jump you are all given notice of your arrival in the Dramadas system shortly.  Shev is going back to help in Engineering.  Bor and Dirk have both gone to the bridge where Dirk stands to the side waiting to offer council or step in if needed.  Bor is asked if he'd like any of the non-command positions as he seems to be qualified at pilot, co-pilot, or system-operator.  That leave me wondering how Eri'anya and Dredge would like to spend what's hopefully the last couple hours of travel time.

With Shev
Bor looks into Shev's eyes, smiles and takes the gauntlet.
He turns it into his hands, checking the mount and the barrel.
"Are you satisfied with the power output ? Seems the bolt could be more condensed by slightly modifying the barrel and the focusing colls. Or we could improve the mount. Juste by reinforcing heeeere... And... Theerre, he says, showing two parts of the gauntlet. He stops comtemplating the weapon ans adds : "If you're interested of course. I don't even know if we have the parts to do it."
Giving the weapon back to Shev : "O should try one of them someday."

With the captain

Shev stops his work and slowly, without a  word, turns his unblinking, featureless visor to Bor. After several tense seconds of the cold stare, he gets his gauntlet with mounted blaster off, and passes it to Bor. Still, the stare is a clear warning - don't mess it up.

Spoiler: rolling.rolling.rolling... (hover to show)

The holo-chess match between Eri and Dredge had an exciting start but the golden girl edged out a lead on the Feeorin.  After that it became very clear that Dredge was very much out of he depth when it came to finding a winning strategy.  Eri saw right through his strategy which Bor mostly missed but the other members of the group pieced together quickly.  While Dredge could see Eri's plan for victory there was little he could do to stop it.  Now despite his loss  Dredge can say he lasted longer than Bor did although it seems the girl's game improved just slightly.

With the match wrapping up the Captain looks to Bor; Dang, he may be big and tough looking but that Feeorin did better than I thought he'd do.  I figured you could beat him but it seems he'd have defeated you even if not the young lady.  A good thing you didn't put down odds so I'll happily take your 50 credits.  :)

I'd like a wake-up call to be on duty, captain.  If you're amenable and don't think I'd be in the way I'd like to help out the bridge crew - with comms perhaps - just in case the unexpected happens and we get cross-wise of the Empire.

The golden woman nods at Dredge's answer about the strider.  She looks at the game board, a bit quizzical about the dangerous spot occupied by the strider.  She could capture it, but she is uncertain about what the Feeorin has up his sleeve.  She opts to avoid taking the strider immediately, trying to see how her opponent's strategy plays out before committing more.

To the Captain, in the storage bay
"Well. At least, we aren't doing all of that for nuts", he says. "Thanks for the tour, captain."
Bor goes back to his bunk to drop his datapad and security kit.

Back to the mess
"Aye cap'. Wake me up too when we arrive. I will give a hand in the cockpit and at comm'."
He places his 50 credits on the table : "Unless it is me who takes your money, captain. Don't count your porgs before they are hatched", he says with a wink.

"Here you are, my friend", he says to Shev, handing him a tool pouch from his belt.
He then resumes watching the game.

"Elek,"Shev nods to the captain. "wake me before arrival, captain. Want to be up and at the engineering." He doesn´t go to sleep yet, and keeps watching the the game. When he gets bored enough by Dredge´s long turns, he turns to Bor. "Got a toolkit handy?"
If bor doesn´t lend him a toolkit, Shev will go grab one form a nearest station, and return. He sits down and starts to check and clean his wrist blaster. When any player makes a move, he looks up and watches for a while before returning to his work.

Now if you would like some sleep before we are scheduled to arrive that's fine but if you'd like to be up and at a station I can get you a wakeup call before arrival in system.  We'll be jumping in an hour or so away from the planet in real space to avoid spooking the blockading ships by jumping on top of them.  The last thing we need is to appear hostile and cause them to shoot first and ask questions later.  Once we're settled on the ground I've been told to expect a "friendly" inspector and after that there should be someone there to pick you up.

It'll take a little time to get to your cargo but it should get to you sometime later that day.

Now did I hear someone wanted to place a 50 credit bet on the big guy?  I'll happily take your money after watching the young lady smoke you.

Shev watches the table battle between Dredge and Eri, fighting his own fight of patience with Dredge - and knowing he will lose. Finally, he gives up and interrupts the match with question he was rolling in his head for a while now. After all, he doesn´t look like he´s terribly deep in thought about the game. I´m not breaking his concentration or something
"Hey Dredge, you long in the work?" Shev taps his hip, where a blaster would usually hang, to clarify he means mercenary work. "Around here, I mean. Thought I heard mention of some hard to down Feeorin."

Dredge doesn't immediately answer, but takes his time studying the board. Each move takes minutes, though Dredge doesn't seem to be straining himself choosing a move. He smirks slightly as a bored and frustrated crewmate gives up watching and returns to their labors. Finally, the alien moves his strider into a dangerous position, practically begging for a capture. A risky move for such a valuable piece."Strider takes the hits so the other pieces don't have to."

Seeing you nosing around the cargo the captain will quietly tell you that what you're hauling here now is a load of seed.  "Seed?" you may ask, "what's so important about seed?"
Really? You'd think spending time on an agricultural world would help you see the importance of seed as that it the basic start you have to growing your own food.  Each seed may not seem like much but with some time and care it multiplies and can feed many.  The seed we carry is especially prepared to grow better in and around Impact to help feed that entire population for some time.

Now I'm not sure the good doctor is hiring you just to protect this shipment because while it's important it's also tactically unimportant.  Were I guessing it's part of a bigger haul but I don't know any details.  It's certainly safer that way.

As for the containers they all seem to have some kind near field signal (RFID) that would easy machine handling.  No external signal can be detected assuming you're looking for long range trackers.

Dirk chatted idly with Eri'anya as they made their way to the ship.
Once on board Dirk found a bunk and tossed his small bag on it and left to tour the vessel the Captan Jack's briefing.
He was most interested in the cargo hold and spent some hours inspecting it and ensuring that the plan of keeping the real cargo they were protecting was properly secured and wouldn't stand out too much to imperial inspection.

Afterwards he spent some time on the bridge asking questions of the bridge crew about their tasks and offering words of encouragement, assessing their competence and trying to boost their moral.  A sharp crew would see the mission through if trouble came up.

He joined his fellow team members for their competitive games and observed, making idle color commentary, watching their reactions to the game and each other.

To Bor:
"Mostly ground, speeder bikes and land speeders. But I flew on big ships as passenger or crew enough times to pick up the basics. My buir always taught me that I should take care of all my stuff since not always will there be someone to do it for me. So I always try to prepare for the worst. Better to be prepared and no need for it than the other way around. As for this bucket Shev waves an arm around the ship. "It´s got some basic shields and such, but otherwise wouldn´t offer much resistance. And for the assignement - Goldy should have some more info. As for me, I think we can help unload the cargo and... redirect the boxes we want when noone´s around. There´s tons of stuff, and nobody will miss them untill we´re safely far away."

At chess
Shev visibly pauses at the question. "No. Not any I know about." His usually even voice clearly shows signs of annoyment now. Maybe you´ve hit the nerve? Or maybe he sees this as too personal a question? Before anyone can elaborate, he changes the subject. "Interesting game. Though if you put this much effort into fixing things, I won´t be sleeping well knowing you take care of our equipment." he scolds Bor. Shev caught a sight of a few mistakes on his part, and tries to provoke him to better guess if they were deliberate or really mistakes.

With the game finished, Eri'anya nods graciously.  "You played well.  I wasn't sure that my little gambit was going to pay off."  She looks at the others, then turns her full attention to the Feeorin.  "Dredge!  Come, play a game with me!"

Yeah indeed. What is your thing ? Lately, I've put my hand on an old R-2000 Raptor. I have had trouble finding spare parts but it runs like a charm. Most of the time. I have flown this kind of transport before. As well as some assault ships. There is some thrill in flying these things right in the middle of... troubles, he says smiling. He then looks around and says in a lower voice : Have you made an interesting tour of this rig ? What is your take on it ? Could it offer more than what meet the eye if we run into trouble ? On a side note : you seem to have some experience with this kind of "assignments". Do you have a plan to carry the cargo to the objective ?

To Eri'
He looks Eri' in the eyes and sighs : I think we are all hunters. We all take our lives into our hands to survive. The Monnok, he says placing the creature on the table, symbolizes the truest form of hunt : the one the predator must perform before dying of starvation. But I don't want to bother you, he says after a pause. And you are right. The Houjix is definitively... cuter ?, he tries, looking at the monster from different angle.
At the end of the game, with a big smile : Well... I did not win this one. That was a pleasure. Looking at Eri', Bor couldn't help but to notice that she seemed to have read him like an open book.

When he first meets Bor on the ship, he exchanges little more than handshake and name, but as he bumps into him a few times when examining the ship's systems, he speaks to him over the shoulder when checking the ship.
"You some kind of mechanic, Bor? It's good to have someone else with the aptitude on team. You flew in one of the big ships, or did something else? Fighters? Ground transports?"
After a few more exchanges like that, he continues on the checkup. When everything is done, he goes back to common area. Shev spots Dredge sitting alone, but for the time, he watches the game. I'd like to talk to the big guy, but that can wait. Better to see how the others play. It can tell a thing or two about their tactics, preferences and experience.

Dredge eyes the bunks carefully, eventually setting down his kit and weapon upon the sturdiest-looking frame. Wearily, he reclines on the bunk and watches the harried crew tend to the many tasks of the vessel. He spots the party coalescing around a game table but he doesn't engage, instead allowing his thoughts to wander.

The years had slipped through his hands like sand on one of Dac's abundant beaches. How long had he been on Monsanto? Four years? Five? It hardly mattered to him. He'd had time. Time could be spent on work. Work earned money. Money brought leisure. And leisure, he thought, was about the only thing that matters after you've lived a few centuries.

Once that done, he heads towards engine and engineering rooms. On the way, he checks the status of the life-pods (if any). He will gladly talk with crew members there and once again express that he can give a hand there.

If he encounters any of the team member, he tries to engage a conversation : "Hi, seems we are all on the same boat now", he chuckles. "Name's Bor, by the way. Unless the person he is speaking to seems to be bothered by him, he smiles and goes to shake a firm but friendly hand with him/her.

Looks like the constable was just doing his job and doesn't cause you any trouble.

You all make your way to the ship with little difficulty.  This action transport has a small area set aside for "passengers" so you're additional bodies on the ship.  You meet with the captain who welcomes you on board and who asks if you can help with various ship duties on this run.  This is to help you make the acquaintance of the crew as they've a bit overworked of late and would appreciate a bit of relief.  While he strongly encourages you to be friendly with the crew he asks that you not disclose additional information about the reason for your travel; as far as they're concerned you're here to help out on this run and while they are loyal it's still best to keep things compartmentalized because if they are questioned about it sometime they can't lie if they don't know anything.

The trip will take about two days.  Is there anything your characters will want to be doing those days?  I hope you spend a little time socializing with each other and perhaps even talking about how you might best protect this convoy you've been told about (or which Eri will share if you start asking the right questions because I haven't mentioned it before IC).  You can use this time to figure out each other's strengths and weaknesses so that if you all get thrown into a fight you know what you should be able to expect form each other.  I also wonder what role on the ship you may feel you can best help out with; travel through hyperspace is mostly automatic but it's still useful to have someone ready to jump into at least the pilot and engineer spots at a moment's  notice if something does happen.

The Roundup is approved for transit in Imperial space, licensed as an official Imperial commerce ship, and most importantly already been used to bring in cargo previously.  Cargo has come in to the secondary port on the planet as the Impact itself is off limits and is being collected in a warehouse to load onto ground transport to run the siege line; this is the last of what we'll need and should have no trouble having it delivered as long as everyone behaves logically.  I believe the doc has more details on that when we get there.

Most of the details are worked out but we're a little short on qualified security.  Hope this is a blue milk run but you can't be too sure and our cargo has become too important to leave to chance.

If you're good with the job there'll be plenty of time to get to know each other better on the ship.  As pointed out the Action class isn't especially fast but it hauls a lot of cargo which makes it that much easier to add just a little bit that gets redirected somewhere else.  On a YT the inspectors might look at every piece of cargo on the ship but that'll take too long for a bulk freighter hauling needed goods to the people who'd be doing the inspecting anyway.

If there's nothing else I see we Bor is getting bored.

Now as you prepare to leave a bell at the front door rings announcing another customer which isn't that common this time of day.  It appears to be a local constable who takes a brief look around not paying your group much attention before looking down at a data pad and walking toward the bar.

Dirk looked around.

"Look, I'm up for this but there's a lot of details that need to be worked out.  If we should do that on the ship that's fine..." Dirk let his voice trail off.

"Swift and smooth rides. Hum. I've heard about them. We'll see", he smirks.

Assuming Shev or Dirk share information on Dramadas :
Arid planet, eh ? Lovely. Gotta grab some sunscreen before we go. Bor picks up his credit chip and hits in against the table. "I'll meet you all at pad C in an hour." he says, looking at the team.

Assuming Shev or Dirk did not share information on Dramadas :
Alright. Gotta grab my gear. Bor picks up his credit chip and hits in against the table. "I'll meet you all at pad C in an hour." he says, looking at the team.

Bor leaves the room, after dropping his glass at the bar. "Thanks pal. See you sometimes."

Shev may be able to know/find some of the basics about Dramadas but, assuming he shares it, Dirk knows a bit more.  Eri'anya can fill acknowledge much of this information as well.

Spoiler: Dramadas System (hover to show)

Dramadas 4 circles a yellow-orange parent star.  Once an arid world of little interest that changed in the not too distant past when an object of unusual composition struck the planet altering things and leaving a major circular crater area which eventually would grow to the city of Impact.  The asteroid strike seeded the planet with certain rare elements/materials making the planet much more attractive once things settled enough to start exploiting that.  Fortunately, House Korden manage to lay claim on the world allowing it to grow responsibly and eventually gain independence with a corporate structure dedicated to the planet.

The area in and around the impact site has a more moderate and much wetter climate allowing for good plant growth which has enabled the region to generally grow enough to feed the population.  Minerals are mines from under the green city in a responsible and sustainable fashion.

Away from the Impact zone life is a good bit harder although some grasslands seem to have developed there are also seas of shifting sand which are highly viscous.

When the Empire came to power they tried to seize the resource of Impact solely for themselves but the independent nature of Impact resisted that.  They pushed back the initial Imperial advances and because they were mostly self sustaining and technologically advanced have been able to keep them at bay as the Empire wants the resources there intact.  A planetary shield covering Impact region keeps them safe from the sky and the ring mountains around them have made ground assault very difficult.  A new "city" has recently sprung up some distance outside of the Impact zone and now largely serves as a staging area for Imperial activities although alternative mining cites which have been subverted by the Empire use it as well keeping a good sized civilian population there as well.

The ship is at pad C and should be ready to leave within the hour so if you have something you'd need to do I'll suggest you do it quickly.  If challenged tell them you have "Doctors orders" to gain access.

Shev leans back and grins under the helmet. There´s not much that can be done about mando armor standing out. Then again, we´ve got rep for both tech know-how and combat prowess, so the Imp should not pry much and be happy. What about Dramadas? Shev tries to recall if there is something he heard about it, beside what the Ithorian said.

"Where´s the ship leaving from? And when?" he asks

Dredge is the last to arrive at the sabaac table and listens to the message without uttering a word. As it concludes, the burly Feeorin takes another delicate sip of his drink and pockets the 200 credit chit. "Sit on a crate, get paid." he says simply. "Tell me when it's time to leave."

The plan is a nice quiet ride on something that doesn't raise suspicion and is most carrying Imperial cargo so they have no reason not to let it through.  Don't blow up the ride.  They may know what they're doing but so do we which is why we travel light; besides we need stuff on that ship.

So here is the team. Muscles and strong personality it seems he thinks while the holo was playing.

He finishes his drink on the Dr.' wink and turns to Eri' : "Imperial blockade. Tight security. Hmmm. What is our entry point on Dramadas ? Covert IDs ? Blockade run ? Or do we... bet that they will let us go through without questions ? These guys know their job. Ma'am."

A little hint from a delivered drink should get the demolition specialist over to the table which is about as "private" as you're going to get in this joint and conveniently near the back door.

When every one arrives Eri'anya pulls a small holo-projection disk from somewhere, sets it on the table, and hits play.  With a brief flicker the image of a professional looking Ithorian comes up who you assume to be this Dr. Umwawa Raada who posted the job.

Welcome gentlemen and thank you for coming to this relatively quiet planet.  The mission I'm hiring for will require you come to Dramadas 4 which is currently under Imperial Blockade and thus has some tight security so I hope you've left you attention grabbing equipment somewhere for safekeeping.  To get there you will be providing security on the Roundup AG from possible sabotage; it is Action type transport carrying mostly food products to support the Imperial war effort here but it has also has containers with the last product I'm looking for.  The ship is unarmed and while you may not have a high regard for the Empire do try to make sure the shipment arrives unharmed. ~sigh~  The captain is a friend and his crew is loyal and those are hard to come by.  You shouldn't have trouble landing on this end.

Once you arrive at Dramada I'll have a speeder there to pick you up and bring you to our staging area.  I'll meet you then and go over the rest of the details.  If you have any questions Eri'anya here will help as much as she can.  Oh, and here is a down payment for your services.

With that the image winks out and with a small pop a small compartment opens up containing a credit chip worth 200 credits for each of you.

"Just practice, if you don't mind. I'm a bit low on credits, though I have a napkin feeling it might improve soon."  replies Shev, purposely mispronouncing. He shoots a glance and nod to the guy who joins the table.  "Bespin standard will be fine. You have some appointment running late?"  he asks when he notices the glance at Chrono.

When the armored figure approaches the table, Eri'anya does a quick shuffle and deftly deals two cards over to his seat, a coy smile on her face.  "Practice is good.  But friendly bets aren't forbidden, either."

Then the presence of another body sliding into the seat next to her draws her attention.  The fringer who nodded at her.  Another pair of cards drops off the top of the deck in front of him.  "What's your preference?  Bespin Standard?  Corellian Gambit?  Or something else?"

That was two.  The Feeorin made three, and it seemed that the demolitionist had arrived while she was in transit.

She glances at her chrono again.  Two minutes past.  An insignificant delay, but it was worth noting how long it took for the signal to be noticed and what the individual reactions were.

Dirk saw the golden women give the sign and make her way to the sabaac table and tried not to smile too lowering his eyes to his table.
He waited a bit before getting up and taking a seat at the sabbac table next to his new patron.

"Deal me in?"

The Spacer's hangout. Not the place Bor usually heads to in the middle of the day but not the worst pick. "Not the worst place the ithorian could have picked I guess." he mutters to himself while opening the door.
At this time, there seems to be empty sits at the bar and he walks straight to the middle of it. On his way, he can't help noticing the huge Feeorin.
As he sits, he tosses a coin to the bartender : "Sonic Servodrive".
Looking at the human at the end of the table : These pretzel things were already on the table yesterday night he says in his head, smiling.

Turning around, he takes a sip. Let's wait for them. Can't be worst than fixing a tractor.

Too focused on the Feeorin, Shev doesn´t notice the golden girl folding the napkin at first, but her moving away from the table is hard to miss. And spotting the sign is just a matter of seconds.
So Goldy is a middle-woman? Guess the ithorian isn´t as green as I thought. Shev looks over the cantina if there is someone ready to meet the girl. But it looks either no-one noticed yet, or everyone is too cautious. Commendable, but time´s running short.
Shev presses away from his corner, but he doesn´t go to the marked table. He sits to the sabacc table, opposite of the golden girl.
"Su cuy´gar"/hello/, he greets her, and waves his hand at the table. "Looking for a practice partner?"

As different customers enter, Eri'anya scans her visual memory.  The Feeorin was easy to spot, as was the Mandalorian.  One of the fringers had arrived, effaced by his nod, but the other had yet to be seen.  He would need to show up soon.  Their schedule demanded precision.

She stands up, pushes the chair in, and sets her drink in the center of the table, then carefully and deftly folds a napkin to lean against it.  She heads back to the now empty sabacc table.  The signal was given.  Now who would answer?

Shev leans on the wall in the dark corner close to the door, and opposite the bar, seemingly minding his own drink, and nothing else. Under the helmet, however, his eyes scan the room. He came in almost an hour before, and the regulars stopped sending nervous glances his way some time ago. Now nobody bothers him. Benefits of mandalorian armor, he muses. Even with stormtroopers everywhere, it still unnerves the regulars. As the agreed upon time approaches, more customers come in. Some of them might be his new colleagues, if everything works out. No sign of the ithorian doctor, yet, though. The mandalorian watches as the Feeorin makes his way to the bar, and overhears the bartender.

"Dredge?" he mutters the name under his breath. It rings a bell, but he can´t pin it yet. He watches the Feeorin for a while. Not many of them around. It might be the mercenary. I´ll watch him, decided Shev. If the ithorian doesn´t show, maybe this guy will know where to look for him.

Dirk walked in slowly and scanned the room with all his senses, eyes, ears, the Force.
Blue light spilled from various consoles on the walls and caught Dirk’s attention. Such consoles often attracted gathering and lounging bounty hunters. Best to avoid them. But the consoles seemed unpopular for now.

Now for a seat. Dirk meandered his way to the last stool at the bar near the back wall. Good vantage spot.

Settling in and ordering a light snack Dirk noticed a golden skinned women eyeing patrons. Was this his new patron?
Dirk nodded to her and took a bite of something salty and crunchy.

Spoiler: 'Dredge Token' (hover to show)

As you glance at the door, you seem a darkly hued alien stoop to fit through the door frame and tromp across the floor towards the bar. Ancient canyons etch Dredge's face into a permanent scowl which he turns on a young Agamarian in a chair pulled too far back from his table.

"You're in my way grain-runner." Dredge snarls, voice like duracrete.

The tramp spacer swallows and makes room as Dredge resumes his walk to the bar, finally settling in two down from Eri'anya with a heavy sigh as if the nerf leather stool was the final destination of an interstellar odyssey spanning decades. Within moments, a liter of brown liquid slides across the stained surface to Dredge. "Happy born-day, Dredge," the bartender says.

Dredge grunts and sips at the drink delicately.

Eri'anya sits next to a table near the end of the bar, the restrooms behind her.  She slowly swirls her varanta nectar as she waits for the applicants to arrive.  She didn't really need the drink, but she enjoyed the taste all the same.  Several spacers had shown their interest in her, but she wasn't here for their games, at least not today.  Dr.  Raala finally had a list of acceptable persons for the task ahead, and it was their interest that was the order of the day.  She checks the small chronometer or her wrist, then looks at the door.  "Right on time, boys . . . "

Congratulations.  Your applications are approved.  Now transportation assistance will be provided to the Spacer's Hangout in the primary shipping port on the agricultural world of Monsanto.  While Imperial activity may be low on this world please remember it is considered to be civilized space and thus try to be understanding.  This meeting will take place a 14:00 standard time and ideally departure from the world will take place shortly there after with travel explained at that meeting.

Please don't be late as an initial payment will be made at that time.

Title: StarWars: Approaching Impact
Post by: StevenO on December 05, 2020, 01:29:23 pm
Approaching Impact

As the Empire rises it seeks to consolidate power and gain total control over important resources.
The City of Impact on Dramadas 4 sits atop one such resource but it's independent views cause it to refuse to submit.
The Empire doesn't take kindly to this refusal and moves to take those resources by Force.

They failed to anticipate the strength of Impacts resistance.
With the initial assault rebuffed the Empire settles in to siege the region.
While gaining a strong foothold on the planet they again failed to realize how self sustaining Impact had become.
Unable to defeat it militarily without destroying the desired resources and unable to starve them out they resort to an ancient attack form:
Disease!!!

Withstanding previous assaults was nothing as this new plague has spreads quickly and is weakens Impact by the day.
Unable to stop this disease calls for help go out.
An Ithorian and others find a treatment and vaccine in record time but need a way to get it to the city under siege.

Going straight in is suicide but a plan for a ground approach quickly forms.
Now the question is who will answer the call to cover the Approach to Impact?
