At first I thought this was a fan trailer. Didn't really seem like the new movie until the Falcon hit the seen.

Not sure what to feel about that lightsaber though. I guess it's just another style, but like the Inquisitor's it just makes me 'meh' for the moment. I may change my mind upon seeing it in action, but that's my initial response.

The Millennium Falcon is beautiful and graceful as always, lol. That little loop thing is fun, looks like it came right out of Tattooine Ghost.

Why is the pilots helmet that little? Looks like they gave hime one that doesn't fit.

Not much else to comment on yet. I am excited. More than I thought I'd be. I feel like I'm a kid watching Episode IV at Thanksgiving again.

Exactly what I want, a lightsaber that will cut my own hand off. ::)

And we're still fighting the Empire 30 years later? No, the only logical explanation is that my Thrawn theory is correct. The timeline's been pushed back due to age of the original cast, but this is Thrawn: The Movie.

And we're still fighting the Empire 30 years later? No, the only logical explanation is that my Thrawn theory is correct. The timeline's been pushed back due to age of the original cast, but this is Thrawn: The Movie.

The 30 year timeline makes that kinda difficult to impossible. Are we going to show Thrawn come back after 30 years and find all of these convenient cloning tubes and lost fleets sitting around in order to be a threat? That's going to happen pretty fast in a movie. Is Thrawn just going to have been around all this time? Is the opening crawl going to be along the lines of:

"So you know how at the end of Returns the rebellion won and the evil empire was destroyed?
Yeah well that didn't actually work out like this so we are basically in a pretty similar situation
from where you left off. Except now everyone is old and our Director was bored of this movie before filming began."

And what about all of the characters? The characters who become main characters and the next generation? Are we just not going to do them? Are we going to have them in name only? Aghh I really don't like this. I realize that JJ Abrams is probably one of the better directors we could have hoped for. Certainly the Star Trek remakes were much better Star Wars movies than Star Trek movies. But JJ is one to come up with projects, not see them through. And I fear the same level of source bastardization that the Star Trek movies had.

I just do not like this at all.

Bolding is mine.
The Marvel movies have a good thing going. Disney has treated them well, overall, and I think they will do the same, if not better with the Star Wars franchise. They can't be worse than Lucas. I do have my issues with those movies, but thay haven't ruined them either. If anything, I'd say that genre has really boosted in popularity. I can only hope they don't funk this franchise up either. But since Star Wars is such a huge thing, I doubt they'll treat it as a throw away.

The level of sarcasm is about as thick as mud around here. I hate getting mud on my boots.

If I base everything around the Sith with the crossguard lightsaber plus the obvious Darksider voiceover, this movie will be about an ancient Sith (or more then one) being awaken by Inquisitors and it forces Luke and w/e Jedi he trained to come out of hiding and fight the war they simply just left the New Republic to fight.

I did like see starship battles in-planet (The Falcon vs new TIEs on Tatooine and the X-wings over a lake somewhere). The new Stormtrooper armor looks too simple, almost cartoon like.

We will know more when the first full trailer comes outs. Most rumors have it coming at during late December releases.

Bonus: Here is a funny story about the internet's discussion on seeing a crossguard lightsaber for the 1st time. http://www.theverge.com/tldr/2014/11/28/7302383/lets-talk-about-the-new-lightsaber-ouch-hands

Edit: 2nd Bonus: The Verge is on fire today with this lightsaber http://www.theverge.com/tldr/2014/11/28/7303233/please-hire-me-jj

It's going to be loosely adapted from the Thrawn story, but it's Thrawn. Search your feelings, you know it to be true!

  • Dark or Light? Why choose when neither is right?

Watching it I could see the "official" part in it with the starships.  The X-Wing definitely look different than what we've always known and the Falcon's maneuvering is pure Abrams.

I'm not overly impressed with the cross-guard lightsaber but I guess the movie needs a new stick.

Interesting but not much to go on.

I didn't like the new lightsaber... until someone pointed out that it was the Crossguard lightsaber from JATM. Now I think it's cool!

the Falcon's maneuvering is pure Abrams.

That was really My only gripe with the trailor. Otherwise, it felt more like Star Wars than anything since the mid90s.

I don't think Thrawn will be a part of the movie, though. Just My feeling.

Note that I did NOT say I liked it :)

I'm not a huge fan of seizure inducing scenes but after seeing several of his other movies that type of action is unmistakable.

I know the first shot of the guy in 'trooper armor almost had me thinking it was a fraud as it didn't seem all that authentic.  Of course I have no idea who it's supposed to be and I'm not keeping track of everything that is going on with that movie.

The Stormtrooper from the first shot is John Boyega, the girl from the speeder shot is Daisy Ridley. They are supposed to be the Main Leads, with Daisy's character being heavily rumored to be both a Jedi and the daughter of Han and Leia (their version of Jaina). John's character is rumored to be a trooper on the run when Daisy's character finds and helps out. They both find Luke's lightsaber, then find Han/Chewie on Tatooine, and start the search for old Skywalker. At least that is the one rumor that has barely changed in months at least
