I like my heroes human, flawed and beatable. And failing every so often.
Bingo. Z33B, you really know where your towel is.

I like it!  Then all you have to do is add the Saboteur package to make things blow up  ;D

Not yet.  He confirmed his interest last night (this morning?) and I sent him some details, but have heard nothing else.

Another question for you guys:  I had plans to have you be attached to Luke's academy and build adventures around that, but would you prefer an approach through the Republic, or something else entirely?

For me that would make sense, I did not really develop my background yet but I was thinking of having my character growing up in luke's academy.

No complaints here. It's a easy reference point (even if it's legends material now) but I've never read any of the books for that period though. Well...maybe one but it didn't cover the academy.

I'm starting to work on the background of my character, so I have a few questions :
- in what year are we exactly ?
- how many students are there in the academy ? How many knights, how many masters ?
- when did the academy start ?
- since we're starting at lvl 3, that would be a young padawan in the old order, so what should be my age ? I was thinking of a teenager, maybe 16-17
- does the academy train children ? = can I be at the academy since I was a kid ?
- any major events I should know of ? (In the galaxy, but especially the academy)

Also, if I can be at the academy since childhood, I was thinking of taking a planetary background to reflect that since we do background rather than destinies, but there isn't a "Yavin IV Academy" background, so would it be possible to create one ?

Now that I have had some time to think, if I attached you guys to the Academy, people might feel that it is a Jedi game.  I think I'll sweep it to be more of a New Republic thing with Jedi advisers to make it feel more inclusive.

This article can provide you with a basic timeline of the Legends Universe material we will be using.

The campaign will start in the year 26 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin).  Some may note that this coincides with the outbreak of the Yuuzhan Vong War.  The outbreak of that war will be pushed back until some time after our campaign would end.

There are roughly 100 Jedi at this time in various stage of training.  I'm guessing there are about 12 Masters, 20 or so Knights, and the rest are Padawan/Jedi-with-no-rank.

Luke established his Praxeum about 11 years after Yavin, so we are 15 years after the founding of the Academy.

You can be about 16-17 years old.  Luke established a Junior Jedi Academy about 4 years prior to the start of our campaign, so if you were found about age 14 or so, that would be acceptable.

In the timeline of our campaign, the Jedi Order engaged and defeated a Dark Jedi Shadow Academy a couple years earlier, then stopped the anti-Human terrorist group Diversity League last year.  Borsk Fey'lya succeeds Leia as Head of the New Republic, a cooperative council has been formed to promote trade and understanding in the galaxy, and the Black Sun crime syndicate has been forced into remission once again.

They didn't train younglings until 4 years ago ? That changes my plans :p
Okay, so what I'm thinking is the daughter of a Jedi (probably someone who was found and trained by a jedi in hiding during the dark times or something), who trained under her father while she was young, and then went to the academy when it opened to kids 4 years ago. Would something like that work ? If so I stick with that and I'll add details and everything to it.

About the build, I think I'm starting to have a good idea now, just a few things to finish and it would be good to go. she will be a str-based lightsaber jedi, with a good wisdom to use force and lightsaber form powers.

I like the background idea.  Go for it.

Ooo, I'm excited to see your build and where you plan to go with it!

Since legends metarial is more flexible now that the current canon replaced it, perhaps the jedi could be an illegitimate child of one of the masters. Families are allowed during this period in the Jedi after all.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but don't be too hyped about it, it's a very classic build, nothing fancy :p I usually tend to be a bit of a powergamer, and do "what works best" for the kind of character I have in mind. Here, it's a jedi focused on lightsaber, so I will try to make her very good with it, but with also a bit of classic jedi powers to get the jedi "feel" to it. For instance, I will take move object and surge because I just can't imagine having a jedi not able to move things with the mind or do super jumps :p

it's the background that is usually interesting in my characters. Most of the time, I give a lot of attention to details : the personnality, the relationships, the upbringing, etc. I usually write them like a short story, and in fact, for two of my pathfinder chacters, I was so inspired that I continued the "short story" and made a 50 pages novel for each of them :D but don't worry, I won't do something like this now, a page or two will be enough I think :)
