Dawn of Shadows
« on: October 10, 2015, 12:46:34 am »
Welcome to Dawn of Shadows. A homebrew Dawn of Defiance style game. The Dawn of Shadows campaign opens one thousand years after the battle of Yavin. For five generations the galaxy has known peace, since the establishment of the Empire as a force for galactic defence and the reformation of the Jedi Order and reinstalment of the Jedi Council. Factionalism and crime are at an all-time low, thanks to the efforts of Jedi and the backup of an
unchallenged military force. Despite the occasional skirmish and act of piracy, the Galaxy at large has become a place of peace and prosperity.

I would be interested, although I am a newbie I would go Noble/Jedi.  Does gestalt also work with talents ie...get 1 noble talent and then 1 jedi talent?

Yes, You get a talent for each. However you will only get one feat at level up, as per normal leveling rules.

Hey, I'd be willing to join. I haven't played Saga Edition before, but I have played D&D, so I'm not new to the genre overall.

It sounds like a fun campaign and I would be interested.  I assume that we are starting level 1. Is this going to be a combat heavy game, or more skillfull/RP? I am thinking of a Solider/Scoundrel leading into master privater/elite trooper. That is if ThierryDuff doesn't take the one Jedi slot (In that case a Soilder/Jedi leading into Unkillable Battlefield God. That's a PrC right?). Also will there be alot of in space combat (not ship to ship but on ships)?

I am White/Blue.
I am both lawful and rational. I'm extremely orderly, and rely on complex rules and laws, upholding them whenever I can.
At best, I am organized and law-abiding. At worst, I am bureaucratic and totalitarian.

I love this idea but I'm at my max for RP threads. I will watch closely so, if something peters out I can request to join. Gestalts are fun!
I like my heroes human, flawed and beatable. And failing every so often.
Bingo. Z33B, you really know where your towel is.

You know, I've never really considered Gestalt rules for Saga; the game just felt so flexible as-is, the thought never even crossed my mind. That being said, I'd love to play some sort of melee fighter; maybe a wookiee berserker sort, or perhaps an unarmed fighter of some kind (might still be a wookiee in that case). Maybe said wookiee was originally a slave, but then Gizra buys him, and decides said wookiee would be of greater use as muscle than as a slave (this is, of course, assuming hutts are still typically crime lords); thus, upon being freed, the wookiee swears a life debt to the hutt, and agrees to work for them from then on. If that sounds good, I can start working out things in more detail, though I'll need to know what level we're starting at before I can really flesh out the backstory (I like to work previously learned talents and feats into their story when possible).

I can handle more than one Jedi, so you can make one too. It's just a general preference. It's not hard-coded into my rules. As for type of game, it should be a mix, so I'm gonna try to keep it that way.

You're welcome to join anytime. And I agree!

That can work. Although it my be easier if you were connected to a PC instead. It's not a bad idea, and we can work with it certainly.

If you don't mind then I have been working on an armored Jedi/ET build which I want to try. Two levels at once will make it all the more frighting.

to MarioFanaticXV. Might I recommended a Wookie grappler? Specifically the pin, crush, bone crusher, and rancor crush kind. Backed up with a stun gauntlet, and the stunning strike talent you could one round CT a character.

Go for it. Looks like you may be the first to get a character in.

I've seen grappler builds before, and honestly, they just don't feel like my sort of thing. They certainly work well, but... Just not my style.

Though my first time as a melee character, I played a savrip that worked alongside a grappler gendai; he held, I punched. Worked really well, overall.

Since I am wanting to create an armored Jedi, I assume the lightsaber was given but will he need to "buy" his jedi armor?

Yes thats correct. The basic lightsaber is free as per the Jedi class. Any other equipment will be bought with the highest max credits between your two classes. So a jedi/soldier would use the soldiers max starting credits.
