One moment I am trying to hold the droid, the next I am on the ground.  I shake my head and sit up, ears still ringing.  The droid sits there, apparently still confused by the antics of organics.  Inexplicably, Theodan begins to laugh. . . and so do I.  We have been outwitted by a droid wielding a sonic cannon.

"Demonztrrration completed-ted-ted. One hundred and-and-and-and eighty four engagementz; two hundred and fourteen targetz."

As the port housing the smoking weapon muzzle closed, Dee twisted his head from one laughing body to another. They all seemed to have found the results humorous. Perhaps there had been additional inquiries they'd intended to solve through their use of force?

"Do my-my-my capabilitiez fall within-in-in acceptable parammmeterz?" He queried as each tool retracted into his forearms and claws.

Yes they fall into mission parameters. Theodan chuckled as they stood back up. With a minute the hanger had returned to normal. Though the break for fun was much appreciated in the end they where only a half hour away from from combat. The other members of the 507th began entering the hanger in large numbers. Some already in full gear while others went to their assigned transports to find their gear inside. Rakos and Valen both had to help get Theodan into his newly acquired armor. Once armored Theodan returned the favor. Once everyone was ready they prepared what they could of the transports supplies, grenades, energy packs, medical packs, a few data spikes, and the tagging guns.
The hanger was bustling with activity until most everyone finished their task. Varactyl Detachment made for an moving sight. So many people dedicated to the truth. To protecting beauty and history. The men and women of the detachment where standing by squad and fire team. Theodan could see gaps in the lines where new brothers and sisters had not yet come to replace those lost. Dee wasn't the only droid standing in such a gap.
Though they didn't have a standard uniform like much of the Alliance did most people still sported the blue green and Varactyl to some extent. Theodan himself had the 507th's emblem painted on his armor in the colors. The captains entered and whatever chatter was left died quickly. Major Alvin moved to the far end of the hanger his aid behind him, while the captains went to the head of their respective squads. The Captains began doing inspections down the line, while Major Alvin began to speak. Starting with the good news,
I spoke with Major Qwi, and he has assured me that he will have an armored unit ready to support the eastern part of our deployment should it be required. In less savory news it seems that the imperials haven't yet removed as much of the museum's garrison as we had hoped. Colonel Si's attack has only just begun so the situation will likely change on route to the deployment zone. In the event that imperial dispositions make the mission to dangerous the Captains have been given secondary objectives they are to go for. I have informed air superiority operations that we might be coming into, possession, of several imperial transports today that we may need to evacuate quickly. If you capture an imperial transports add the code 108507 to the end of the transponder signal.
With the details of the last mission briefing out of the way Major Alvin paused before going into his pre-combat speech, This is the day we have been working for. You all know that there is not a greater repository of history, art, and culture anywhere in the galaxy. The Imperials have changed the art and history shown there, we will change it back. They have tried to steal it, we shall retrieve it. They attempted to hide it, we will bring it back into the light of day! No matter, how far they run, how cleverly they hide, how much they take!
We will preserver and restore our common heritage! We will not let them plunge the galaxy into darkness, devoid of what makes this war worth winning. We will restore the light of civilization to the galaxy!
Major Alvin, normally a composed man ended his speech animated in a way he rarely was. Cheers went up through out the hanger. Major Alvin let them go on for a bit before calming the soldiers. Make me proud, and move out! With that people turned gathered what they could and began boarding the transports. As his own team boarded the transport Theodan turned to Dee, Can you handle changing the transponder codes?

Theodan heard Valen's comment, I'm not so sure about it either. If it points that gun of its at me during the mission you have my permission to shoot it.

As we board the transport, I begin a checklist of my items.  My armor is secure, my blaster charged, my comlink chirps.  I test my gauntlets and my cloak for shock, and find both hot.  I peer through my utility belt and find everything in order.  I strap into my chair and prepare for war.

Spoiler: changing transponder codes (hover to show)

The rickety sound of Dee's metal treads on the ship's deck sounded in reply. He pulled up to the com terminal and (after finding a way to bypass the stupid chair) produced a scomp link. It would take twenty minutes in his estimation.

Theodan watched as Dee changed the transponder codes, making sure this crazy droid wan't programming the ship to space them.  Once he was satisfied that the droid wasn't going to kill his team he sent the modified codes out to the rest of the ships in alpha squad. Theodan had actually meant if Dee could change the codes of any imperial transports they might find during the mission so air support wouldn't shoot down the recovered art. But if the first things the Imperials see is several transports with Imperial codes that wouldn't be a bad thing. Once everyone was aboard and final preparations were finished the transport fleet took off. Several dozen ships began to spew forth from the ship and enter formation.
Theodan watched the transport fleet leave the cruiser. He never got over how the light changed during take off. Seeing the darkness of space through the blue screen, then the world would shimmer as the window passed through the shield and finally he would be looking into space with nothing between him and the infinite expanse. Theodan always felt as if he could have lived a different life as a space explorer instead of a historian and teacher. Fire Team 1 looked through the bags of equipment that had been on the transport when they arrived. Alright boys, pick your gear. Theodan shifted through the various kits until he was able to find one that suited him. Once he had found his gear Theodan went back to his seat. The pilots were busy coordinating with the other transports and fighter escorts. Into the silence Theodan said, Just in case.... It's been an honor. and it really had been. This team had been through a lot, yet what they were up against today would by far be the among the toughest missions yet. Now,
I don't plan on dying today, and ya'll shouldn't either, but if history has thought me one lesson it is that the good guys can lose. What made the Republic strong, whats makes us strong, is that even after we lose we keep trying.

The team rode in silence most through the rest of the flight. Theodan watched as the sky turned from black to a flame green during retry then calmed back to a blue as they approached the target zone. Theodan knew their speed hadn't increased but in space its hard to judge just fast your going. So close to the ground it felt like he was moving at an impossible speed. The transport reached ground level, and stayed there flying just above the ground through republic contorted space to stay below the radar. With in a few minutes the pilot called out, T-minus 1 minute to the drop zone. The crystal forest began whizzing by the wind. The team gathered by the door ready to charge out. Hey droid, your first off the ramp. Be a good distraction for the rest of us. Theodan was always a bit uncountable with how aware droids were, and he didn't want to risk this droid needlessly, but after the hanger he was not going to get in front of the droid if he could help it. Turning to Valen, Theodan said, If that darn droid looks like its going to shot me, you have permission to shot it first. Everyone was preparing to be go into combat. Theodan fixed his bayonet, loaded his rifle and prepped his tracer gun. We are going to be in combat almost off the bat, but our primary job is securing the museum. If it looks like the Imperials are going to abscond with something use the tracer guns to tag it. In fact tag everything you can in case an imperial unit comes in and clears out stuff behind us. Don't shot until we know our cover has been blown I want to make a coordinated ambush on the Imperial squad. With in seconds the transport came to rest on the ground and the door began to lower. May the Force be with us... Varactyl, move out! Theodan ran off the transport, the excitement of combat making him forget the droid. The sun was bright, intensified by the crystal forest. Theodan ran forward a dozen yards and slid into cover behind a wall. The transports had drooped them about 50 yards form the main plaza. He could see the transports of fire teams 2 and 3 lifting back into the air a few hundred meters away. At least all the teams made it onto the ground. If the Imperials noticed the transports they must have been fooled by the transponder changes that Dee had made. Good, that gives us a chance to move up on them quietly. Theodan signaled to his team to begin moving east towards another low wall they could take cover behind.

Theodan peeked out from around the low wall the team had gathered on. The guard had walked the same path twice as far as Theodan could tell, he waited until the guard began to turn and immediately sprinted for a statue. But the guard turned back suddenly Oh kryat dragon Theodan dove immediately to the ground and signaled his team to take a different path towards the plaza as the guard began to move towards the group.

As we approach the landing site, Theodan speaks of the honor of serving with us.  I dip my head towards him in acknowledgement of mutual respect.  These were good men, and it would not do to have this day end in failure.

As we approach the plaza, I see Theodan sprint forward to seek cover behind a statue.  However, it appears that this action has made the guard nearby suspicious.  Peeling off from the main group, I crouch low to the ground and stealthily close in on the guard.  I hear no comm chatter yet, and perhaps if I can grab him, he will be unable to raise an alarm.

I'm guessing that your stealth check was for the skill challenge (and not to sneak up on the trooper/attack him). However, sense Rakos noticed the trooper and moved towards him I will allow you to make a grapple check on your next turn if you chose.

Skill challenge totals:
Success: 1 Fails: 1

I know I didn't say it but let everyone make a check before rolling again. Beyond that order doesn't matter.

Dee rotated his boxy head back to Theodan and nodded. "Rrrrrroger roger."

The hollow, metallic whine of charging  capacitors, servos and motors, surrounded the droid. As soon as the ramp opened Dee shot out like a bullet. He wasn't the fastest model but moving in a straight line would allow him to scan and send information back to the team. He zoomed across the terrain kicking up a trail of dust behind his whirring treads.

Valen watched as his team slipped off the transport. He caught his breath as Theodan made his move and quickly drew a bead on the trooper you had yet to spot the group. Valen calmed his breathing and was about to take the shot when he noticed Rakos had gotten close to the trooper. Good, a silent take down would be better. Don't want to start the shooting if I can avoid it. Valen lowered the rifle and slipped behind the low wall. He quickly moved down a dozen a meters and peeked above the wall again. The trooper was nearly on top of Rakos who was readying to jump him. Bending down Valen picked up a rock and threw it in a high cruve above the trooper and the group. The rock landed a good 20 yards past the trooper. the trooper quickly turned to the sound drawing his weapon up. Valen used the opportunity to run across the opening and slid into cover near the entrance point to the museum. Valen peeked up again weapon ready to provide cover fire for his group.

Theodan was willing him self to melt into the ground. Steady your breathing no extra noise. Theodan looked back to where his team was. Rakos had slipped off towards the guard. No gun fire yet, he must be trying to  ambush him. Theodan waited a few more seconds, no fire. That means the guard isn't sure he saw me. Theodan crawled around the base of the statue taking care to peek out form the base in silence his weapon ready if needed. Theodan quickly spotted the guard moving towards him, and ducked back into cover. Theodan changed his position to a crouch, better to fight or run in. Peeking around again he heard Valen's stone fall and watched as the guard turned to it. Seizing the chance Theodan ran to the next piece of cover he could spot, taking care to keep his rifle pointed generaly towards the trooper. He won't live to cacth me twice. However, the guard had begun moving towards the rock weapon readied. Theodan slipped into cover with out further alerting the guards.

The guard is so close I can hear his breathing, smell his soup.  It is not the strongest of soups, and it is tinged with unease and nervousness.  But I have not fed deeply for several days.  I freeze when I hear a rock clatter on the ground, and the trooper turns away.  I bare my teeth in a feral grin.  The prey has turned away from danger, does not realize what fate will soon await him at my hands.  I close behind him, arms elevating, hands grasping for the soft points on his neck and head . . . .

Spoiler: rolls and ooc (hover to show)

I wake up and my first thought is, It'll be a long day. I noticed thinking that was becoming a habit. I can already hear bombardments from the outer edges of the culture district. Its getting closer, probably see combat by night fall. I get dressed quickly the other troopers of my unit dawning their own armor. My bunk mate helps me get the jet pack on, I return the favor. Wearing this armor all day has made my shoulders shore, I need to get it resized, but with the rebels impending attack I can't afford to be taken off guard. I have breakfast quickly. Its cold again, most of the kitchen has already been torn down. I hear some of the other troopers mention that the auxiliary units have moved out. I notice that the museum is much emptier. I guess we are pulling out, better make the most of the last day here. I liked the museum. Hearing what some of my comrades are in right now through out the city planet makes me happy that I'm here in the cultural district. The general will probably pull us out before we see fighting. Good. I just might survive this war. Thoughts of home came flooding into my mind. No don't think about it. Be strong. I was fighting to protect my home, to make sure that order was maintained and that civil war didn't break out there. These rebels were setting the galaxy on fire and calling it righteous. Madmen the lot of them. I just want peace, to get back to my family. Guess I'm lucky I got assigned here. The general, what's his name? Is more interested in making himself rich form the war, then he is in fighting it. I don't mind, heck I approve. I go to my Lt. to get my orders for the day. I see that I was assigned to a squad operation in the east plaza. That's nice, I like the big cat statue. My orders are simple. Provide security while my day squad secures what art they can and evac. I'll meet up with my unit again on a star destroyer that night. We are evacing. Good, just one more day. You can do it... you can do it.
After I give myself a pep talk I go to the plaza. Others are already there. I report to the junior officer there and begin my patrol. The first few hours are uneventful. Then as I'm near the egde of my patrol I notice something. Something is off... Is that shadow out of place? Wait that doesn't make sense. But something is off. I can feel the paranioa begin to close in on me. My wife always said I was paranoid, but come on, one more day. Who wants to screw up and die at this point? I begin walking over to the statue to check. I won't be able to focus until I clear it and my mind can rest. What was that? The senors in my suit definitely detected a sound coming form behind me. I spin to face it readying my weapon to fire. Someone might be able to move that fast. But I doubt it, better call it in. I begin to move towards the sound to inspect it as I reach for my radio to call the officer. I'm about to take a step when.......
